Magnaflow Reasearch need opinions
I know..........
so i've done some research and came up with possible solutions:
car 2003 c240 v6
muffler posibilities
14618
14815
14816
all of the above are polished finish if you want to replace old muffler and not do a dual or quad setup routing one side of the pipe over to the other side of the bumper. These are considered universal application and work really well since a lot of member here have them installed. ( i've seeing all the youtube videos)
now for what i want to do:
setup inspired by guys like Roland, Frank, sb.legacy and many more! forgive me for not mentioning your name
muffler posibilities
12138 stainless 14x20 2.25 in/out
12251 stainless 18x24 2.25 in/out probably too big if adding chrome tips
12148 stainless 14x20 2.25 in 2.0 out
14223 polished 14x20 2.25 in/out
Now, I am leaning towards the 12138 / 14223 the only difference being the stainless vs polished finished.
now I wanted to order the chrome tips from magnaflow but wanted to hear from you guys and perhaps chime in. I would like to do a dual setup vs the quad setup but thats because I really like the oval chrome tips better.
rolled-oblong
Oval
thanks for your time reading and I hope it helps others

You could either do those tips or use another OEM tip on the other side and have the magnaflow with a dual with OEM tips.
If you must go aftermarket with tips I say the second one from those two pictures (oval)

id go with the stainless one. as for the tips if you cant get OEM thats not a big deal.. theyre pretty expensive and hard to find anyways. a good aftermarket one would do the job just fine. not sure about the mangaflow tips, though. theres always a good amount on ebay that resemble OEM. goodluck!

I have a flowmaster on the truck and love the growling it has to it. The Benz I want the sound to be a bit tighter (I am not sure if it makes sense) and I’ve heard with HD headphones most of the YouTube videos and the Magnaflow is the best bet (for the money). Thank you all for your input.

ok one more thing.
I have a friend who allowed me to measured the tip of her c230 and the dimentions are
5 inch by 3 1/2 oval type, I have the 2005 c230 bumpers and like I mentioned before i would like to go with one on each side but i am having a hard time finding anything that measures those same numbers. if i go quad what size should they be? for those of you with quad setup, do you the size of the tips?
thanks,
Harold

My quad tips should be here tonight. I can measure them when I get home and let you know. They are the AMG tips from a C32.
What muffler would you put on a c230K sport sedan? I don't want too much drone and need it to be single in and dual out?
Thanks

yes let me know the tip size when you get a chance. I am going with the 12138 stainless 14x20 2.25 in/out because it is a bit smaller and like i said, i would like the sound to be a bit more tighter than the flowmaster sound. good luck!

Cale has the flowmaster 50 Delta i believe. Its quieter than magnflow and borla. My borla sounds quieter than the magnaflow, so cales has a nice tone but had a good growl when he got on it.

well with forced induction engines you can do 3" or more if you want since your engine really doesnt require back pressure. With NA engine you'll want back pressure. The OEM piping is actually 2.75" on NA engines, so I actually went down with the 2.5. You can actually get good hp gain if you do 3" piping. But if you do that I'd recommend getting a header and an intercooler and you'll get a pretty good increase in power once you get it tuned.
