C230 Sport Coup + 2006 W164 ML350 + 99 Ford Escort (What the heck, it gets 38 mpg!)
If you have adjustable dampeners, I beleive you may have the SS, or Super Streets.
It's fun to play with them, 16 settings, on different types of road.
I only drove once on the stiffest setting on Hwy 108 from 395.
Oooo Weee! I was the only car on the road from Bridgeport to Strawberry.
Big Fun.

So I guess they did redo the rear springs if yours is as low as it goes.
I like my fenders to line up almost exactly to the top of the tires.
Looks nice, not ricey, and not noticeable to law enforcement and
insurance companies.

IMO what makes a car an AMG is whats under the hood. Having the body kit doesn't make your car an AMG, so if you do badge it up people WILL hate lol. Do what you want though.

What was funny was Xhale was hating on people for putting on AMG kits because their cars aren't AMG. But apparently for him, it's ok to have Brabus reps on your car just because it doesn't say Brabus on it. Last time I checked AMG kits don't have AMG written on it. His arguments were so stupid.

It all started because I have AMG door pins. They look really clean. I'm going to get something if it looks clean. I'd get OMG if I could.. But I can't

Yeah it does..

Although I'm not sure how lowering a car can affect engine mounts. Dropping lowers the entire frame of the car and the engine attached to it...so the relative displacement between the engine and frame will remain the same before and after the drop.

Maybe advans can clarify??

yeah i'm going to ask him, but he used to have the car (coupe) and he's pretty knowledgeable on it so i trust his information. as far as i understand is that the coilovers are stiffer so the worn motor mounts aren't really used to the change of taking harder hits when hitting bumps. all i know is that after i was told this people must have thought i was wasted drunk because i was swerving around every bump haha. forgot that certain road was terrible.

Wait dropping a benz makes you risk busting your engine mount?

i think dropping it would not just affect the engine mounts but the whole frame of the car. not in bending the frame or anything, you just have to remember that what happens with stiffer springs is more force is dispersed throughout the car as opposed to being absorbed by the suspension.

there is always force being transferred from the suspension to the car, its just that when the springs are softer, that energy is "lost" with the springs movement, when the springs don't move, that energy has to go somewhere so it gets transferred elsewhere.

theres some physics 101 for ya, lol

I am familiar with Physics but how low a car is vs how the shock dampens the impact is completely different.

If you have stiff shocks and soft springs you will sacrifice damage more no?

I mean in this case you would bounce on bumps instead of the suspension absorbing them?

Also I forgot to mention, we use hydraulic motor mounts. Just trowing this out there. You risk busting your engine mount more if you always floor your car and accelerate everywhere you go.

This is true only in the case of ghetto car drops...like when the original springs are cut.

There is a variable called the spring tension factor which you are completely overlooking. Most high quality lowering kits are designed with newer spring with varying spring tension factors from the top of the spring to the bottom. So essentially, even though the spring is shorter in length, the overall energy absorption capability remains the same as the original spring because of the higher spring tension factor in a certain section of the spring.

The vertical travel distance while going over a bump of the cars chassis will definitely reduce when dropped, but the energy absorbed by the spring will be the same.

You guys are all correct and make complete sense but you would have to discuss this with advans. I'll tell him to join the thread.

This is true, thanks for correcting. But yes, ghetto spring drops are not the way to go.

Speaking of springs being "cut" can anyone say XHALE???!?! LOL

Wow you guys talk about him like you guys hate him haha. how long has this been going on?

Haha just realized I'm going to start getting really upset with people that take turning on ramps and off ramps going like 30mph now that I can take them going 60 haha. Need to get them eibach sways and an alignment and I'm golden.
