Matte black full vinyl wrap C230 coupe.

The pic quality is bad but I just finished the hood so I thought I would post a preview. Front and rear bumper and grille to go. More pics to come.

Yea, I order the vinyl online and wrap in my garage. It's the 2nd car I've done so the process is going a lot faster.

2006 C230, 2006 BMW M3, bye bye C55:(
Im sorry, but I truly do not see the appeal of this.

Hard to maintain, cant polish it, have to wipe anything that may damage it off, and chips will begin to show the cars original paint.

Not hating on you or anything man, just not my appeal.

Looks like you're doing a great job though

Actually it's easier to maintain than paint
-it has a clearcoat, minor scratches can be buffed
-washing is easy and it dries easily streak free.
-its duralble, It takes a large stone to break the skin
-protects the paint - even if torn the paint is often protected
- If torn re-wrap is $40 where repaint is $$$

Not trying to sound like a vinyl saleman but I've had my C63 wrapped for a year and no complaints at all.

It looks great and major props to you for being able to vinyl your whole car. I did my roof and it was a real pain. I ruined one sheet the first time. They got stuck to eachother lool

Second time I saw a vid online and it helped a lot (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVKxbXINPdo)
Just incase anyone wants to vinyl their roof.

Were you able to wrap above the door and the rear 1/4 panel as all one piece, or is there a seam? How hard was this? I know the panels on the sides of the panoramic roof can be removed, yet the weathering stripping around the rear windows seemed like a pain to get under.

How do you plan on doing the front grill? I suggest black plasti-dip vs wrapping. It'll peel off easy, since plasti-dip is just a rubberized coating, yet will be far easier than trying to wrap the grill.

Do you plan on removing the front plate permanently? you'll have to fix the license plate holes before wrapping the front bumper

Good on you for doing this, yet I just don't think the coupe will look good in matte black. I want to wrap mine in AMG orange.

Btw, if you don't already know this, but a hairdrier does wonders in helping you curve the vynils..

True, but a heat gun has more temp control, different tips, and is about the same cost. I'd recommend one of them instead of a hair dryer. Though your wrap won't be as fabulous, obviously.

Matte black usually isn't my thing, but you get the coveted Mskembo seal of approval for doing something unique! I can't wait to see pics of it in the light

Yes, pics in the daylight would be great! I have been tossing the idea of wrapping my Jeep Wrangler. Almost everything on it is flat, so I figured it would be easy for a noob to do. Where did you buy the wrap?

The rear 1/4 and above the door was 1 piece, pretty easy to do. The small piece above the rear window is pops out. easy with trim removal tools.

The grill I will wrap, I use 3m tape primer 94 on areas that may peel/lift.

AMG orange is my favorite color! I love that sl65 black and clk black done in the orange. I did matte black because it was free since I had some left over from my c63 and I didn't like the oem paint color at all.

The AMG c63 black series spy photos are posted now, Im thinking of trading in my 63 and getting the bs in amg orange.

It is! I use a heat gun, other must have tools are trim removal tools, painters tape, magnetic torx screwdrivers, vinyl squeeges and surgical scalples for cutting.

Thanks and haha ya I know, any "car money" I get I put into my other car. These rims were from my old 230 sedan and better than the hubcaps that I came with the car.

I got the vinyl from ink4u, its a canadian company so shipping for me was fast and cheap.

Are you on any of the local Ottawa car forums? Redliners? MidnightRuns?

I really want to wrap my car in an orange as close to the AMG orange as possible so I am very interested in your progress on this. Post up more pics as you go please!

That is sick! It would be hard to show off though because it's never really that dark in the city I live in because of street lights.

Update: Front bumper was completed last night, today the right side of the car and trunk, tomorrow rear bumper.

No I'm only on Mbworld. It's helped tremendously with DIY's for taking things apart for vinyl. I'll post pics of the car tonight prob once the bumper is back on. And more when the projects complete.

How long does the wrap stay on? Does it shrivel up or turn weird colors? Does snow, rain, excessive heat affect it?

That seems like more time & cost than it's worth. It only stayed glowing for maybe 2 minutes. Also, it would be tough to show this off if there was any other light sources around. Not impressed. Now when they can wrap it with OLEDs I'll be impressed!
