water drip..

Guys, I'm just wondering about water dripping from the left side of my car, uneerneath of course. Just before the dashboard area..

From what I understand its the AC water.. Which is normal. I touched the water and its clear and definitely water. What I'm wondering is, just before the water starts to drip, alot, I can hear the water trickle from inside the car, probably from behind the dashboard. I can clearly hear the water run somewhere . And when I got down and peeked under the car I saw the puddle of water..

Is this normal? I mean I know AC drips are normal, but from all the car I have driven before I never actually heard the water trickle from behind the dashboard (or underneath the dash). And it seems to trickle a lot within a few minutes too.. I was previously stuck in traffic for about 40 minutes before I got home..

Normal. Water drain is below the evaporator. You might have some dirt in the drain pipe. You should not hear it draining.

Okay gets even wierder . Its extremy hot today so I decided to put my AC on the coldest setting.. And again I hear the water/liquid flowing somewhere under the dash again.. And suddenly my AC stop being cold. I turned the temperature back up to 22 and it becomes cold again.. Curious I pushed it all the way down again and it stays cold. Suggestions?

Yes - I think what you are hearing is the refrigerant. Have the system recharged.

Thanks Glyn, will have it recharged soon then, I assume that alone should solve the "running water sound" problem?

Turns out my compressor suddenly died. So I changed it to a new one.. But now iw getting sounds as if my air blower is going high to low high to low and so on.. The air itself blows steady however. Aircon is also cold.

What gives?

Guys, turns out my water drip/trickle sound is still there. It happens randomly, but most of the time when I punch my gas. However, I can't find any leaks.. Everything is dry.. Engine bay, under the car.. No smell of gas nor oil.. AC is running fine after the new compressor installment. No warnings either.. Help?

I can literally hear it trickle behind my dashboard.. Doesn't happen all the time though, perhaps one or twice a day..

Could be that your expansion valve is faulty.

+1 - or check that the water drain to under the car is not restricted.

I'm still think it might be refrigerant noise. Get a good HVAC guy to check the system properly.

Shouldn't I get more symptoms if its the expansion valve?

Just a thought .It could be opening too far and allowing too much fluid refrigerant through which is what you are hearing.

I wonder why your compressor failed ? .

I would visit a A/C expert.
