I just did this, but I didn't notice any sound difference. I didn't do anything to the intake, just replaced the muffled S/C pipe.
Although I didn't really get to WOT because in one of those threads, someone says to use the T-bolt clamps, and right now I'm using regular hose clamps.
Someone also said that there's, or someone they know, had the tube come off with regular clamps. So I have been taking it a little easy.

I bought the pipe at a local auto parts store. It's 2.5" by 24" exhaust tubing, and I cut it down to 18".
The EGR nipple is just a 3/4" pipe connector. I drilled a hole in the main pipe, and had to bore it out so the EGR connector could thread in. I think a 1/2" might be better since the tube is a real tight fit over the nipple. I then sealed around it with high temp. RTV sealant.
The rubber end connector pieces are plumbing connectors I found at Home Depot. Their ID is a perfect fit over all the connections.

Like I said before thought, I really don't notice any difference at all. Even at WOT, in hard acceleration . Someone said his sounds like an F-16 spooling up, another said it was ear piercing in a tunnel... I certainly don't have anything close to that. Maybe it's the exhaust tube I used, I don't know, but I'm thinking it's not worth it.

Hmm.. I like the faint, 3500-6000rpm whine. Sounds refined without being cheesy. No matter how loud is screams, the car is still slow.

I just put the stock pipe back on. I think if I had some welding skills I might keep a steel pipe on there with a welded EGR nipple, and a mount to bolt it to the block like the stock one. I'd feel much better having it secured with a rigid mount.

If you end up doing this. Double clamp, and/or use T-Bolt clamps on the upper end of the pipe. Mine ended up coming loose. Got it fixed, but it did rub just a little on one of the pulley's.

Correction, Drove An '05 C230 Kompressor SS
"Doing It Right The First Time"........

So Last Friday I finally got my butt in gear on modding the Benzino again, With a Little bit of time, money, research, and patience, The hard part is done on the S/C Silencer/Baffle removal!

I had to have a Local Performance Shop help me out with the welding, But the end result is Perfection IMO
I still have to take some Aluminum polish to the pipe and get rid of that discoloration for the visual appeal.

-- T-Clamps $35 shipped for 12 count (I plan on using the rest on an FMIC and I/C Pipe upgrade)

-- x4 4-Ply Black 2.5" Dia couplers $30 shipped

-- x1 3/4" Aluminum Vac. fitting $8

-- x1 17x1/2" X 2.5" Aluminum pipe with ends flared and 3/4" Vac. Fitting welded on $40

So just using the pieces meant for the mod, I'd say it cost about $80 total
Very Much well worth it to me.

I Promise to post more pics and a Video while I install and test the Mod. this weekend.

You have a 02 coupe right? (according to your info). So m111. it looks totally different. You won't be able to see it until you remove a few things from the car to get to it. It's inside the supercharger manifold.

If I get around to it, when I replace my supercharger gasket I'll take a picture to show where it is.

Id appreciate a picture walkthrough of the steps actually. Been planning to remove the silencer for almost a year now.

Well, there's not gonna be a walkthrough, and if I do get around to it, it'll be a picture of the location.

I've already taken it out a year ago.

I am seriously starting to consider doing this. I guess I'm getting the bug to do something again besides just drive the car to work and back.
