Adding Sirius radio to my 2005 C230

I have a 2005 C230 Sedan, love the car, but want to add Sirius to the factory stereo. Is that a possibility? It doesn't have the Navigation package, just the in dash CD player and the factory changer in the glove compartment.

I have Sirius in my GL450 and love it! thank you.

Yes, it's possible as I had it installed in my 2005 C230 (before I later added factory navigation). It will cost you about $1,000 at the dealership installed. Of course, you may be able to find units cheaper & installed from Steve at MBenzNL. The tuner isn't cheap, but the integration is worth it. Once you get it installed, the Audio20 headunit will have a soft key for SAT. Look at your owner's manual, it's well documented. All US 2005 & 2006 C230s are pre-wired for Satellite, it's only the 2007 that they took out this wiring loom unless it was ordered with the option of Satellite Radio. Keep in mind the readout on the Audio20 is kind of crap for identifying songs/artists, as the font is large and anything over a certain character count will just have .... after it (you can't scroll over to read it).

The Sirius add-on is $40. Sounds like an easy decision to me.

$40?! I don't know why I bother on this forum anymore, this topic has been beaten to death and a simple search would show I've posted this information before. If you think adding a Sirius tuner to a Mercedes is going to cost $40, you're high. Pick up the phone and call the dealer -- It goes in the trunk.

Sorry to twist your nuts Steve, you sound a little tight today. I'll promise to do more research before I bring my petty questions before you.

Common sense isn't too common.

I was referring to the add-on external Sirius receiver, which is on sale there at $40. Works perfectly fine. Spending $1k on a factory option makes no sense to me whatsoever. I've had a Sirius Starmate in my car for over 7 years now; more functional than stock, and as someone said, the display kicks the OEM unit's scrawny a$$.

And if you're going to go the route of spending a grand or more, an aftermarket unit makes much more sense than sticking to oem. Better display, functions, and sound. It's a no-brainer. Which is why I would be recommending it.
