C32 brakes on the C230K

I now have in my hot hands the C32 front calibers for fitting on my C230K coupe. I do not like the stock MB brake pads, looking at Porterfield.

Wow those Porterfield brake pads are expensive, $179 for the C32s fronts. I have some time to research brake rotors and pads to go with the C32 AMG calibers.

Still hoping someone has info on the C32 rear brakes, they are ventillated and will resist fade much better than the C230 non ventillated rear rotors. Anyone have part numbers for the C32 rear rotors, calibers and pads?

$188 each caliper, from Caliber Motors wholesale. I am waiting to get the rotors and non stock pads.

Have you ever experienced fade in the brakes of your C 230 K? If so, I'd like to know where you drive. I could see it happening if you're at a track at 10-10ths...

Especially on the rear. There's much less braking going on in the rear, so fading probably won't ever be an issue. And even if it did, I doubt you would even notice it that much. Although you would notice the fronts which would likely be fading horribly by the time you got the rears to fade. I think this is one mod which is a big waste of money. Although you can probably get ventilated rotors if you really want them. But don't worry about calipers.

I think someone posted before that the only difference was the rotors, the rest of the parts are the same.

This then prompted the suggestion to use the rear brakes from the W210 E55. They'll fit and provide an increase in rotor diameter (the C32's are the same diameter as on the non-AMG cars, which is probably why the calipers and pads are the same). The E55 rotors are ventilated, but not cross-drilled (same as on the C32).

Cheers, BT

The C32 Brakes Work Great
The Porterfields are a Good Choice Also install a set of Braided Lines to Firm up The Pedal
Might Want to Install a set of Cross drilled rear Rotors.. It Will Help cool and will match the fronts.. I Did My Wifes Coupe and It Stops a Lot Better!

Mark,
What stainless steel brake lines did you use and who did you get them from? It looks like the G-Stop are Dot approved and the most popular by installers now.

Sure would like to see your wifes coupe and pick your brain for ideas. There is a Import car show this weekend at Long Beach convention, and there is a MB get-to0 gether the following weekend. Are you going to either?

From the C32 forum someone listed the C32 front brake size, several other popular cars use the same pad. So Mintex, Porterfield, EBC, Pagid and others are all available. I am looking for immediate stopping distance for surface and freeway driving, not for racing conditions. Also less dust.

Like what others have said before, the number one priority is good tires, the Michelon Pilots are Z rated and stop as good as the best street tires. The goal would be to cut braking distance in a panic stop, which I believe the AMG (Brembo) brakes will do.
