3.5 Motor oil usage.

OK my wife has an 06 350 Ml. So about two months ago we had oil consumption test done. The report stated that the motor used .36qts of oil per 620 miles. Also that this is within the spec of .85qts per 620 miles. So in 2400 miles the motor used 2.1qts. The report also stated that engine oil should be checked on a regular basis (I.E. at each fuel fillup). How is this in spec this is an crazy amount of oil being used. The Ml just hit 817xx on miles. My 03 c230 with about 171xxx on it only use about 1qt in 13000 miles. So if the Ml has an 10000 mile oil change spin I will have to replace about 8.1 qts of oil between oil changes that is crazy Has anyone every hear of this much oil being used with not replacing or rebuilding the motor. Thanks

I had similar issues. Check for oil leaks. It's complete bull **** what they consider to be within spec.

Check out my thread
https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...ed-help-8.html

My leaking issues were PVC, Oil breather, cam plugs and I don't remember the last one. They fixed this and it got better but it was still there. Then I found it was leaking through the cam plugs that the idiot dealer changed. Leaking through the silicon

All I have to say is F these dealers and F MBUSA. They are complete scum!!!

You most likely have a leak.

You didn't take care of it before? Or did it happen again?

Typical dealers, trying to dodge the problem thinking you'll forget about it and it'll go away.

I exploded (sailor way) on the dealer that I went to and then went to a different one. Idiots didn't want to do a consumption test. They topped me off and then told me to come back. I did and they checked with the dipstick and said I was fine. The real way involves weighing the oil doing the consumption test and weighing it again. Even though it's bull because you can get everything out. So I flipped out and sailored it out of there

The I went to a different dealer and they did the test and said I was within spec. Again this is bull crap because every 2k miles I would add a quart. Before it was a quart every 1k or so.

I was real pissed because my warranty was running out so I started doing some investigative work. So I found the oil leak.

I asked how come I didn't see any oil on the ground and they mentioned the small leak will make you loose a lot of oil because of how thin the oil is. Also it burns off real quickly and plus we have covers on the bottom of the car.

So with that in mind, try to get under the car and feel around. Or take it to an indy and have them look around since you ran out of warranty.

I wish I could have helped more but this is all I have.

Good Luck
