C230K Pricing

About how much did you guys pay for your 2002 C230K coupe? I am considering the purchase of one, but want to know if dealers are willing to negotiate. Also, are there any build quality issues with this new model? Thanks for your help.

I paid a few hundred under sticker, with no funning Dealer markups like ad, loan, or market fees. And received the CD-Changer ($750 value) and Bike Racks as part of the package (~$500). I know however that the pricing has been very market specific and some have gotten much better deals, really depends on how much competition exists between dealers. Unfortunately I live in a 2 MB dealer city, so there is little incentive to bargain on a popular car.

Supply was so scarce in the Denver market that when I found one in stock in the color w/options that I wanted, I paid full sticker and was happy to do so. The only negotiating I did was for my trade in, they were so generous that I have to say that I was treated VERY fairly on the whole transaction.

The car is an excellent value, but if have any luck haggling, then all the better for you.

The dealer indicated that there was only about $1800 profit on the car that I chose: Brilliant Silver, Auto, C4, C5 + CD Changer (Dealer added pinstripes which look great, and 3M clear bra, which I would have had done on my own anyway.)

Can you post a pic sometime of your car? I have never seen one with pin stripes and would like to see the bra on it also.

Thanks

I was at my local dealer yesterday (there's only one in New Orleans). He said there was only a 7% markup on these cars and refused to negotiate, citing the fact that the car comes with free scheduled maintenance. I thought to myself that was B.S. and told him to figure out a trade in value for my truck. He is supposed to get back with me today or tomorrow. In the meantime, I placed an Autobytel purchase inquiry with an out of town dealer, as well as placing a classified ad for my truck just in case the trade in value is not what I expect.

If you are in SoCal or willing to travel for the car, dealers here are starting to sell for very close to invoice.

Hey Kwik,

How close to invoice? You must be talking about Laguna I bet. Invoice is running $23,204 + $665 destination so $23,869 according to Edmunds.com.

How close depends on your negotiating skills but I would bet within a couple hundred. This is a good month to buy at LN, they are way behind the Feb. goal and missed Jan. goal.
