That's really cool until the movie shuts off at 10 mph or Japanese instructions cut off your favorite song

I wouldn't mind an indash dvd player either.

If you own an E-class, you can get a free, yeah, free new car to go along with the DVD Command system you paid for but never got.

What a fiasco. Someone at MB deserves an early retirement for this mess.

I don't think the Steve MBenzNL is the seller for that Comand on Ebay. I bought my C32 foglights from that same seller and it was certainly not Steve.

Japan is using FM76-90, so the radio may not work well outside Japan

I agree with Addy, I bought a Japan headunit cd player before; it has a different FM freq, won't work in US

But you can...

Listen to TV signal from the Japanese radio.

I bought a japanese car radio before and I know of a place that sells a converter that converts the signal for US use. Actually, it just shifts the frequency so basically you have to subtract a certain number the radio frequency. Works quite well.

But I'd like to see more of this DVD navigation. I doubt it will work since the japanese comand may use a different map format.

The seller is not Steve. I contacted him and he confirmed that to me. Steve just got one DVD-based Comand but he didn't have the chance nor time to test it. He's toughts are that is not going to work on a non-japanese car.

Steve, I hope you don't mind me posting this but I just want to save you some time answering the same questions again and again.

good luck!

Angel

Wow, the Netherlands must be a hotbed for Mercedes parts distribution.

Nope...it is not, but it is way too close to the MB home to stay away from all the newest parts.

As amiras said...I do have that similar comand as well and went to the local MB dealer today to get myself a W211 DVD based navigation CD to test whether the 203 DVD based comand will function on this nav CD at all...if it doesn't work on the W211 DVD nav CD, it is completely useless!

The textes on the (wide)screen are all in Japanese as well and I hope I can get that reprogrammed to something I can understand...the comand itself has several new connectors on the rear that I have never seen on a comand before and of which our local MB dealership had NO clue what they are for (I managed to get 4 techs round the unit forgetting about their work and wondering where the unit came from).

I will install this DVD comand in my father's C tomorow and checj what it does and more important what it doesn't do.
Considering the fact that the W211 DVD based comand has a separate headunit and DVD drive in thetrunk and considering the fact that this W203 DVD comand is manufactured in Japan....I doubt whether navigation will work at all.

I also had a regular Japanese W203 CDrom based comand and the CD drive itself was completely different as the US and euro ones as well...it was also a Japanese product (instead of being labelled with Bosch stickers).

so...please be patient for another day and wait for the pictures of this W203 DVD based comand IN ACTION (as far as I can get it in action)!

edit: and please don't mail me about this comand! I already have enough lack of time to get through my regular mails...

greetingz,
