Finally finished the retrofit headlights for my c230
Started these a long *** time ago... got lazy and never finished them. Roommate got a car with hids and I remembered what I was missing.

FX45 bixenon projects, m45 shrouds with ccfl rings behind them

Honestly, not sure. I started them about 2 years back when I got the car... did all the install of the projectors themselves, etc... spent about 4 hours this weekend in finishing them off... attaching the bezels, doing all the wiring, etc.

I should have them complete in a few weeks, By that time we should be ready to do your mods here, and you can inspect them in person.
I've done 9 Retrofits in the last 6 years, I'm planning for This set to take the cake

I bought most of the parts I used off of ebay, but theretrofitsource seems to have good prices

I scored a set of those outer housings (just like yours) but they're not projectors. (just clear).

How hard (really) was it to do the retrofit?

Could you write up a step-by-step DIY for this project?


If it's not too much of an undertaking, I may do it to this set (which are in pristine condition) before I install them in my car.

Let me know, puuuhlease.

They were one of the easier retrofits I've done. That said, I do have lots of experience making lights, so take that as you will.

Not having pictures taken along the way makes it awfully hard to do a good DIY. Check out the forums over at hidplanet and you'll likely find lots of DIYs for other cars. The concepts are all the same.
