New rear brakes, new problem!

Put new rear pads and rotors on yesterday and after the initial test drive everthing seemed fine. Drove to work this morning and now there is a nasty grinding sound when the brakes are applied coming from the left rear. Almost sounds like metal on metal. When I release the brake pedal, you can hear a very faint intermitent scraping sound for the first few seconds, like the pistons are sticking a little, and then it goes away.

The pads are ceramic from Advance Auto along with their stock rotors. I know that I should have bucked up and gotten better parts but cash is short and was trying to save a few bucks.

Any ideas of what could be causing the issue? I plan on pulling everything apart tonight to see if there is something obvious.

white and whiter
if they are the right parts you should have no problem. my guess is there is air in the brake system.

Nowhere ...Fast
i would say where you get them makes little difference ( many would argue)...but there is something not right if you install and get that sound...take it apart and see what might have happened...could the pin got lose and now the pad is stuck?

I would check to make sure the sequel reducing plate is still in place.

Almost too embarrased to say this but.........................I put one of the pads in backwards. Yep, I'm a moron. That metal to metal sound that I heard was after the backing plate had worn off and got caught between the rotor and the dust sheild.

The good news is that the Advance Auto Parts simply swapped out the old pads for a new set no charge. Awsome customer service! It actually pays to be honest some times and admit you are stupid.

All is back together and wrorking just fine now. Go ahead, I deserve it.

THE C350
Well I hope no damage was done to the rotor but besides that I will keep my other thoughts to my self.

Steve, your the most honest man on this website .

Your experience reminds me of what my Chief Engineer said to me in his cabin when I signed on my first ship as a junior engineer." If you make a mistake & tell me about it I will kick your #rse but if you don't tell me I will #%#king sack you. I have abided by that advice all my life .

Good on ya mate.

Rotor had some slight scoring but nothing a little turning can't fix. Will take it to a local shop in a couple of days and get it cleaned up.
