P0025 2007 C230

I did a search on this forum and only found 5 post. I went to autozone and pulled code p0025. And now im looking up the Camshaft Position Sensor. Kinda confused on which CPS to buy? Is there any difference changing a CPS on this mercedes then any other vehicle? You just unplug the current CPS. UNBOLT it... Bolt the new one and plug the existing wire in right? Because on that website theres one for 69.95 from BOSCH

and partstrain has it for the same price also?

Replacing Camshaft Position sensor is nothing more than simply disconnecting the connector, remove the bolt, replace with new sensor, reconnect the connector. That's it.

While the diagnostic code refers to the sensor, more often it's the camshaft magnet behind that sensor is what is actually causing the issue. The magnet is around $19. So, if I were you, I 'd replace the magnet first, reset the code.

Johnand has a long thread on this problem on the M272. WIS tells you not to replace sensors only magnets. They have been redesigned. The problem can be intermittent. I will try & locate for you.

Also look at post# 113, that links to a thread with the service bulletin on this issue.

I would recommend replacing all 4 magnets, and be done with it.

Yes, there are 4 magnets total on the M272 engine since it is a quad cam design. They are cheap and easy to replace.
