Yes, you lucky guy - you indeed have the best of both worlds

I've looked at the pre owned AMG market on this side of the pond - people want a fortune for them - they are generally cosmetically well maintained but mechanically hammered.

I guess I've turned into an old fuddy duddy...As much as I used to love flying around the Metroplex (man,I STILL drive waaayyyyy too fast) I'm just incredulous at the love affair we Americans have for horsepower! Maybe I'd feel different driving an AMG but I sure love the ride I get in my 240 and Mom's 320! I RARELY have an occasion to truly "open er up" & just redline it! I'm happy w/just giving her an "Italian tune-up" every now & then on the LBJ freeway & have been pleasantly surprised to get her up to 125 w/no prob a few times, but this old fart is ecstatic to just tool around in sweeeet comfort!

Hi Ken - yes, most of the time I'm very happy to just enjoy my C240. I find that a Benz calms me down and I behave. When I get in a Bimmer I turn into a lunatic.

South African's are power mad, always have been, always will be. I think it is beneficial that I drive a car with modest power - it keeps me out of trouble.

Yeh! I used to gun my Dodge Intrepid down the LBJ!!! when I lived in the big D.

This is so true out of the rides i have been looking at..

Also Beemers just make me want to fly too. thats why looking to a MB. . My Top Speed is 160mph with my 3000gt that i had, and i could have pushed it more still maybe up to 180mph but stoped at 160mph . It was great but same time it was scary,

What are some of your top speeds on your mb?

My 2005 C230K: max has been 125 mph so far. Smooth as anything.

My old 1993 Ford Probe GT: 147mph. (See my avatar pic). This was on my slightly modified Probe, as the normal max speed limit was 134mph for the 93's, and 133mph for the 94-97's.

My old 1986 Buick Regal: estimating 108mph, which is the documented top speed for that car. But I'm just guessing that I attained it, because the speedo only shows up to 85mph, as did most cars during the 1980's

The c32's are electronically limited to 155mph. The german c32 are unlimited at 175mph. If you change the final gear ratio you can hit 190mph. Not too bad for a sedan..

yeah i was afraid of the same thing. I was happy to find out my c32 was owned by a 35yr old female teacher. This kinda eased my worries, i like working on cars anyways.

With all the little problems aside, the speed and torque are definately worth it..

Yes - more powerful models are limited at 250 Kms/h in South Africa but the C240 can't get there so no limiter

never!! haha..i thought i was. But after smoking a couple of unsuspecting mustangs, m3's and 335i's. I felt the mod bug again. But yeah most of the time i just drive 65-70 to save gas.

Its kind of funny. OPEC is freaking about about the price of gas, when its at where it should be now. They said the current price of gas is only 7 cents more then it was last yr.

yeah i did the same thing with my civic a couple of years ago but before there was all that traffic on the 5.

I'm still waiting on code 3 to get there stupid heat exchangers. Right now, i just have the code3 intake and pulley. I'm probably going to install the pulley sometime this weekend.

The quest for power never stops!!
