any 1 heard of POWERCHIP?
This is for 2002 2.3,sorry nothing for the 1.8 yet!
In standard form, the C230K Sports Coupe 2.3 produces 192 hp and 200 lb.-ft.
Powerchip has a range of chips to suit your car, which can increase it's power to between 207 hp and 211 hp, and it's torque to between 216 lb.-ft and 220 lb.-ft.
The price of the Powerchip is USD $840.
Is this a good product guys, and is it worth $840,all opinion would be appreciated, thanks BOBDOLE

i looked more into the 1.8,and came up with mixed responces here they are:In standard form, the C230K Sports Coupe 1.8 (Chip+ Pulley) produces 189 hp and 192 lb.-ft.
Powerchip has a range of chips to suit your car, which can increase it's power to between 217 hp and 221 hp, and it's torque to between 218 lb.-ft and 222 lb.-ft.
The price of the Powerchip is USD $840.
then they go and say:
Unfortunately we do not currently have a Powerchip available for your Mercedes-Benz C230K Sports Coupe 1.8 (Pulley) . Your vehicle has been seen by Powerchip but with our current technology we cannot obtain significant gains from it.

everyone always talks about powerchip and theyre promising gains and somewhat good prices. Yet nobody is brave enough to be the 1st guy to get it. They have a chip for the c32 that puts out a claimed 25 hp to the wheels for 900 bucks. Not bad imo.

I've been running the Powerchip 93 Gold on my E430 for over 5 months now...and I haven't enountered any problems...Dealer didn't seem to notice or say anything during my B service.
The 93 Gold is programed to use 93 or better octane, I tend to just use a 100 octane mixture(76 or Trick) or NOS racing formula octane boost, it can get $$$ but it's not my daily driver anyway...throttle response is much improved (as I requested from PC) my understanding is they can program the software to your driving needs/habits and has adapted well with my newly installed BMC carbon dynamic airbox.
Joel, Wayne and the guys at Powerchip are good people to work with that understand the software & how it effects the mechanical aspects of the car. I first learned about the product through an initial test drive of my brother-in-law's 2002 M5...and I was hooked.
There have been numerous reports posted by other members(including myself), try searching the archives.
Cheers

Any one here installed Kleemann pulley and power chip???
I will install a Kleemann pulley shortly (probably next weekend, depends on when I receive it), and I also thinking of putting a power ship as well
Are they comparable?? Or the power chip is designed for stock pulley only????

The last time I checked, the Upsolute chip for any Mercedes was $500 plus $75 for installation. Dyno charts, which were posted on this forum in the past, show an average 3 hp gain over the entire rev range except for a 30+ hp spike at red line.

BTW I was lucky enough to get hold of an all alloy pulley

I dont see how you could have gotten an alloy pulley from Malaysia- they were manufactured in the USA and never sold outside the USA. If someone in Maylasia says they have an all alloy pulley its either for an early M111 engine (SLK, C pre summer 2000) or they are lying to you.

But it costs me an addition of US$300.
The thing that really pisses me off is that I did give them an address in one of the forums here which has a picture of the alloy pulley, and asked them to confirm if thats the one I am getting, and their reply was posiyive....
anyhow is too late to complain

Here is the response from SpeedTuning
Hi Constantine
I asked them if the chip is for the 1.8L engine that's in the '03 C230K Sport Sedan.
Sure, with a Power Chip you would get plus 20HP. I know stock HP is rated at 193HP, I drove the SLK in Europe for a while. Price would be US$ 275.-. There would be also a hardware upgrade available, but it is pretty expensive, Power Chip, bigger pulley, belt and intake for US$ 899.-, would get you plus 42HP and 48Nm torque, will attach a typical dyno graph for this tuned engine.
Best regards,
Oliver
