Roll Back lock

I don't know what is this feature calls. I remember reading it in the manual on my 04 c230. Can't seem to find it in the 06 manual.

I know this feature is in the 04 c230 as I have expereince when I am at full stop or parked at a hill. This engages when the vehicle rolls back, it then locks up and prevent it from rolling back any further.

In the 06 c230, I doesn't do this. Is this feature taken out on the post facelift models? Or is something wrong with the car? Can those who has this feature on the 06 or 07 confirm this feature?

This feature was removed in the 722.9 7G transmission (due to space constraints from my understanding). Two extra gears were fitted into the same space of the 722.6 five-speed auto. Nothing is wrong with your car.

By the way, my car with this feature will still roll backwards if the hill is steep enough. Unless it is in "C" mode.

Thanks a lot!!

I am going crazy doing comparison to my 04 c230.

That is a good feature, too bad they removed it. I was rolling back down the hill many times today trying to figure out why it doesn't engage.

Now, is it good for my transmission.. I doubt it. But at least now, I got my sanity back.

Why did you ditch the 04? God knows the 04s weren't perfect but the 06-07s have issues of their own, too. As you're learning with that stupid 7G transmission.

Well... Long story short.

I had a Mercedes Tech told me to ditch the v4 Kompressor engine and get a V6 engine. Said there are a lot of issues with the V4 Kompressor.

I also, like the post face lift and redesign of the interior console.

Perhaps I should have went with an 05 which has best of both world, huh.

If the Mercedes tech referred to the engine as a V4, that certainly removes his credibility. The early M271s had their issues, and they do have some KNOWN issues but so does the early M272. Past 2005, all the cars should be solidly reliable. If I were going to get a V6 W203, I'd only buy 2007 and only 6MT form. The 2005 Kompressors are a bit rough around the edges in terms of refinement, but they're solidly reliable.

I agree with you 100% on the updated exterior and interior though.. the pre-facelift cars were boring on the outside and hideous on the inside.

Nah. I referred them as v4 kompressors. Was told that engine is not that great and I should look into the v6 engine. I like the c230 and 2006 so happens to have the requirements I am looking for, so I bought it.

Then running into 7g tranny pump issue. Oh well, nothing is perfect, just have to make the best of it at the time being.

One of the reason why the 04 was sold, due to a better redesign. I like the current headlights, so didn't went too far with going on the 08 versions.

heh. FYI, it's an I4, not a V4.

2005 C Wagon (No snickering please!)
The ravigneaux planetary gear set in the earlier 203's had, as a by product, a hill holder function when in second gear. The combination of input and output shafts prevents the output shaft from being turned in reverse. If you set the sport mode, the transmission shifts to first, and will roll backwards. The C (W on earlier cars) switch position places the transmission in second for starting out.

I see that you have a gray corner lens. Where did you get this? Does it light up when you signal?
