that's a big AS* woofer you got there, hope it won't shatter the windows of your car.

Or the backseat passengers can get a back massage.

Thumbs up Thanks BlackC230Coupe

That is a big @$$ enclosure, how's it sound? I bet it drops hard as hell. Hey are you still able to use your steering wheel controls with the alpine changer?

Amp input

Are you running the speaker level outputs from the OEM amp as the source for the Kenwood and relying on the OEM crossover etc? If not, what is your source signal?

I'm curious because I want to try and intercept the analog signals from the OEM Bose amp prior to them going to the internal OP-Amps. Yes, it’s going to require some surgery...

TIA

to tell you the truth i dont know exactly what you are talking about i dont know that much about hooking them up i brought this to an audio place and had them do it so i am really not to sure all i know is the amp is hooked up to the car battery and the amp is only powering the sub.

Your tag line refers to a Mercedes/Alpine fiber optic 6 cd cahnger. What are you referring to exactly? Is this an after market Alpine that is compatible with the fiber optic system in the car? If so, what is the model number? I have not been able to find any info as yet on such an Alpine unit. Please let us know!

It sounds like his changer is the standard Mercedes
changer, because he wrote "Mercedes/Alpine".
Alpine makes those changers for Mercedes.
If you look at the bottom of the cd magazine,
it says "Designed by Alpine Japan". The guts
of the changer were developed by Alpine also.
The optical interface part was probably made by C&C
of the UK. They're the current masters of the D2B Optical
technology.

Strangely enough, my changer was made in Hungary.
Others I have seen say Made in China on the label.
China is where most stuff is made these days, since
it's too expensive to make stuff in Japan anymore.

cd changer

Cryptnotic is right it there is noting special about my changer i am sure all of you have the same one i only put Mercedes/Alpine because those changers are really made by Alpine but made 4 mercedes so they write mercedes on it. heres a pic of the changer but as i said its nothing special or different about the changer than all of yours, its just the mercedes factory fiber optic cd changer.

Black C230:
Hmm...it must be nice to have a hatchback. You get the best bass. So are your interiors next? With that much bass doesnt it drown out your highs? I want to hear your car, must sound nice.

Brsc 32:
I dont understand what you want to do. You need a modulator to connect the RCA to the amp unless you buy a amp that has speaker inputs and you can take it from your speaker. I took mine from the 9" sub in the back and mounted the modulator somewhere inside the rear deck. The power line I got from the hood which I ran inside the side molding outside the car. The remote line is connected to the fuse box in the trunk side. And ground is just anywhere.

BigDaddyPR:
Ever try a Bazooka SAS self ampified bass tube? You might like it more. Check it out and you might be surprised.

What about taking the 2 speaker wires that go to the Bose subwoofer and use them as speaker level inputs on a new amp? Then run a sub off that amp. I was thinking of doing that.
Also, I wanted to tap power from the fuse block under first aid kit. Any advice on this?

BTW: I know....Sorry, I've posted these questions before.

I really really do not recommend getting a power source from a fuse box for your amp. You will pop fuses and short stuff out. You should run it from the battery and use the correct gage wire for your amp.

I don't want to go off on another subject too much, but I just got the CD changer installed and am curious to see if anybody else notices a pause before the cd changer advances tracks...I've noticed this from the dash controls as well as the steering wheel controls.

Anybody notice the same thing?

I have noticed the same thing. Like a 1-2 second pause. I figured it was normal, and it really doesn't bother me too much (except when that song I don't like comes on, and I have to listen to it for 2 more seconds before it advances )

I want to give you a better answer than the one i'm about too, but I just can't remember. There is a pause and it has something to do with the fiber but that's all I remember from my sales rep, there was more too it but short attention span...lol...anyways you're not alone on the pause.

Thanks for the advice. I will follow it even though it means more work for me

On the CD changer topic: It bothers me more that there isn't a disc shuffle mode, but I guess that would take even longer to change tracks.

I think there is a shuffle mode to change tracks. I was playing around and kind of found it by accident. Don't remember off hand how, but I will try again tomorrow and post if no one else does.
