C230 Sedan - 6 spd.
Question Too many wheels... too many factors...

Does anyone have 18x9 wheels up front on their W203? What size tires and do they rub?

I'm looking at Carlsson 1/5 18x9... scared to put out the money if they don't fit my C230 sedan.

Thanks so much for your help and patience.

I wouldn't do it. I'm fairly sure it will rub.

The ideal size wheel/tire combo for the W203 is:

Front 18x8 w/ 225-40
Rear 18x9 w/ 255-35

Not entirely true.. I run 19x8.5 front and 9.5 rears.. I had about 1mm of rubbing but thats on the C230k sedan so i put a 5mm spacer on.. there will be no rubbing on any other C Class as what the wheel is rubbing against is the Strut tower cover on the C230k sedan which is not on any other C Class.. You can safely run 8.5's in the front.. and 9.5's in the rear..

If you do not want staggered setup, 18x8 all around or 18x8.5 all around will be your choice. For staggered setup, 18x8 and 18x9 or 18x8.5 and 18x9.5 will be fine too.

Carlsson will have a slightly different designed 1/5s coming out in the fall, if you can wait, wait for a few months. But if you want to buy the current 1/5s at a better price, its time to get it. You may also visit my company's website for more info. Or give me a call, or send me an e-mail.

If you needed spacers, then the wheels didn't really fit did they?

Well basically they fit every C Class but the C230K sedan.. and since im the first to order a set for the C230k sedan i guess i was the guinnie pig.. Because the strut tower has a plastic cover.. it rubs against that cover.. Like 1mm's worth of rubbing.. so i just threw a spacer on because im going to need it with the BBK anyway.

C230 Sedan - 6 spd.
Thanks!

Thanks so much for all your help and suggestions guys. Truly appreciated.

Alex-- What size tires are you running up front? Is it the tire that's rubbing or the actual wheel? Is it possible for me to run 18x8.5 all around without spacers?

Thanks again for you time
-Thach

btw, I have a C230K sedan.

Im running 9.5's in the rear with no rub.. its the 8.5's in the front that rub on the strut tower.. I have a 38 offset all around and i use a 5mm H&R spacer in the front. Since the C230K Sedan's front hub looks like this..

You can run a 5mm spacer and still have the wheel engage hubcentricly with no shake because of the enormous spindle length..

Here are my tire sizes..

265/30-19 Rear

235/35-19 Front

Let me know if you have any more questions.. or email me

elysium@si.rr.com Ill be Happy to answer.

Forgot to answer one of your questions.. Both the tire and the wheel were rubbing.. But only by like 1mm almost nothing.. but enough that it was causing problems so go with a 5mm spacer up front if you are going to run an agressive offset Ex: 38mm
