Seat Belt Extender in C-Coupe

Just seen the seat belt extender of MY03 C-Coupe at the showroom, but I don't think its useful in any way. :p

I think it gets in the way sometimes. Like when someone gets in the back seat and pushes it back. Then the seat back is in the way of pulling it forward to get the seatbelt. It is very frustrating to fight with a piece of swivelling plastic to get the safety device of a seatbelt to put it on. It is a lot of work to follow the law, it should be easy to reach so as to make people more likely to buckle up. But alas the designers at Daimler-Chrysler must of had other ideas that day.

it's useful if your arms are short and stubby....

Not when my short stubby arms can not reach it and I have to reach back further to get to the seat belt.

The seat belt is a safety device and it should be easily reachable. I should not have to reach back further because someone got in the back and not this piece of plastic gets caught between the seat and the B-Pillar so I can not easily move it forward.

I personally find it quite useful.......when I took delivery, mine were still wrapped in the red plastic weave.....everytime I went to get the seatbelt, I had to open the door or squeeze my hand inbetween the seat and the door to get it......since I treaded my seatbelt throught the extension, it stays right where I can reach it everytime and doesn't get twisted and tangled. The extension stays resting on the top of the seatback making the belt easily accesible....You guys have threaded your belts through the extension haven't you?

Oh don't get me wrong it was a pain to get to the seatbelt on the 2002 I test drove first and yes I have threaded it. But it does get pushed behind when someone gets in the back and that can be a pain sometimes. I would rather have it then not have it so I am not complaining. It is much better than the alternative or not being there. But I keep my passenger seat back further and it can get wedged between the seat back and the pillar when someone gets in the back seat. I rarely let anyone in the back from the driver side.

Reaching out for seat belts in a Coupe its a matter of getting use to. I get used to it after just a few drives, but my first time passenger usually would have problem even they have long arms! :p

Does anyone have a picture of the extenders? I live in Vancouver, BC and we don't have that option. I just picked up a new 2003 c230 about two months ago and i was surprised it didn't have one. I hate reaching for the seatbelt cuz its so far back.

i had a loaner 02 coupe. without the extenders it was much more difficult to reach back for the seatbelts. 2 things i don't care for with the extenders, but i live with since i would rather have them than not. when i put the seat back up to access the backseat, the extenders can get caught between the seat back and the panel of side of the car near the b-pillar. its not that bad just have to pull it out of its spot 2 or 3 times i had to bring the seat back up because it was caught in there good. no big deal. the other is sometimes the seatbelt will come out the end of the extender that holds it in. i noticed that after putting on and taking off my seatbelt,. after many times of doing this, the seatbelt can work its way out and thereis a small space between the two prongs and it gets out. i live with it, and have had a hell of alot worse kind of quirks with cars in the past. either way, i still love my car!

like someone said its just a matter of getting used to (and a lil laziness ). I got my '02 really late and the discussion of '03 vs '02 models just started here 2 months after i got my coupe. Yeah it was a bit of pain at first but u get used to it (once u kinda have an instinct of where its located u dont even look back anymore). Now, of course its still a pain for a passenger (front) b/c they're not used to it. If this piece could be added on I'd get it on the front passenger side for their ease.

*Is it just a piece that can be added on? I tried an '03 with it at C-spot party but i didnt really pay much attention.

the seatbelt extenders are not annoying and do not get in the way. makes it a piece of cake to grab the belts to put them on. it's a very nice feature.

Here's a suggestion, grow a couple inches!

I'm 6'2" and the seat belt without the extender is still a little further back than I'd like, yet very reachable.
