Anyone put LED's in their Coupe?

Has anyone used the LED bulbs from myroadster.net to replace the turn signals/brake lights on their '02 C230 Coupe? I am interested to know the results, how hard it was to get the lenses off, what it looks like after, etc.

Thanks

Unhappy i tried but gave up

It's just too much effort to get the "intensity" that it has. I have tried to use 10ohm 30W resistor for the city light, but i have strip the wire too much and the resistor is extremely hot for a while. I decide to just put the super white light there. My BRIGHT HID is sooo bright that it even extends the lights across the whole housing.

It can be done, but just too much effort and too little return. Hope this helps

I have. Sorry, its been a busy few days...I think you sent me a PM.

I did it on the front turn signals and the city lights. The city lights are real head turners. I eventually bent the LED's apart in an X pattern so it flooded the housing more, which evened out the light pattern from the superbright LEDs- which are normally extremely directional. They are very white, with a hint of blue. The look like dim HIDs.

The turn signals didn't work too well in the back of the car. The orange lense with an orange LED assembly just looks, er like dirty water. I kept them in the front turn signals because they are very bright in the clear housings, and they eliminate the orange reflection in your headlights.

Ive also got a couple of LED snake lights that I'm thinking about using to illuminate the vent dials. The license plate illumination is next.

BTW, the brake lights on the coupe don't work well with LED's. The top corner bulbs face straight up. The multi LED 'bulbs' don't spread enough light to properly light up the top corner lights.

This is also another good LED site. Cheaper, but he takes a long time to deliver, and the LED's don't seem to be the same quality.

Thanks for everyone's responses, especially you Outland. I think I will skip this mod based on your info. I just love the "POP" of the LED taillights/brakelights in the newer models and I thought this would be nice and cheap, but I guess there is no real replacement for OEM!

I'd still do the city lights and the front turn signals

I know what you mean about the dazzle they add. They are definately a pain in the *** though. Somebody should just sell them with a resistor built into the base.

Why do people call the parking lights "city lights" when everyone else in North America, and even the friggin' MB manual, calls them PARKING LIGHTS?
