Unexplained wheel damage & Wanted - single C7 wheel
This morning, I noticed a 1" sliver gouged out of the lip on the driver's side of my car - the rear C7 wheel. I pay very close attention to my car, so it had to happen in the last day or so.
Yesterday I had it in for detailing, so I'll bet they did it.... but I could never prove it.
I just don't understand HOW??? The Sumo tires protect the rim pretty well and it's not like you'd hit a curb anyway on the DRIVERs side!!!

Anyone got a spare for sale at reasonable price?

Is it 1" long or 1" deep?

It can be sanded and painted. However, it is difficult to match the finish with paint. It won't be as metallic afterwards, but only in that one spot, or however much gets painted. I would not get the whole wheel painted though. You will be able to tell the difference then.

IMHO, don't waste money on a new wheel!
Geez, that can be easily repaired by a competent wheel shop.
They'd have to weld it and refinish the whole wheel.
It should cost no more than $100 (USD)
I know the very good shop that I go to here in Calgary does it for around $100 CAD (=70USD)

I've got one wheel that was refinished by Keystone in PA. It is not as shiny as the rest. In between the spokes, the finish is actually a little rough to the touch.
THAT's why I'd prefer to go OEM. No one seems to be able to do ANYTHING right these days. My dealer can't even change the oil without breaking something else on the car, so I doubt they could fix the wheel.

buy MB brilliant silver touch up paint and put a few coats on just that area. My wife did a scrape 50% of the way around and it cost $150 to fix....

I don't know the exact process, I imagine they repaint the wheel, hopefully the remove the old paint :-)
The end result is like factory finish. If you're not 100% happy tell them to redo it.

I believe the wheels are powdercoated or some other process, but not painted. That is why paint does not match perfectly. But it's not that far off, just not as shiny and metallic.
