C230, a chick car?

Hey everyone,
My dad said that when I graduate from high school, he would consider buying me a C230, which I would just love! They are so cool. The only problem is, every time I see one, it is driven by a teen age girl! I have told my friends that I might get one and they tell me its a chick car... What do you guys think?

Road&Track and others eluded to that saying the C230 is targeted at the younger buyer, specifically the younger female. I don't think my RWD 6speed is a chick car, although it is dead sexy, but what's so wrong about style? If that's a big concern for you, buy an old GMC pickup with the rack for your 12 gauge, incase you come across any trophy bucks!

I smell fish bait...

Where exactly do you live that you see these drive by every day with a different teen age girl in each?

Sure some "daddy" didn't buy it for himself and his fraternal twin daughers who live up your street keep borrowing his car?

...more like a chick magnet, in my humble opinion.
Besides, I'm so tickled pink driving this badboy after 10 years with the jeep cherokee, I couldn't care less.
Same thing with hatchbacks - I don't know what's the matter with their bad reputation here in the states (is it that the yugo was a hatch?!). We don't have a problem with practicality, style, individuality, or sheer driving pleasure (which is what "fahrvergnuegen" means in english) back in mercedesland.
I'll take a chick car any day if it's that much satisfaction.
Still amusing following this idle thread...
BTW - I know a lot of "chicks" driving BMWs, too - they must be onto something...

Chick Car

Hey BigB,

It actually never even crossed my mind that the C230 is a chick car. I've heard the new VW Beetle called a "chick car", but never the C230... it's pretty "manly"! ... As long as they don't throw in a flower pot on the dash for the 2003 model.

K Car
I would not consider it a chick car. Although I haven't seen too many C-coupes, I think it's been 50/50 male/female drivers. I have to say though that I've probably seen more females driving SLKs then men. And when it come to the beloved Bimmer, I would say that a good 80% of all the ones I have seen were driven by women (higher on the Z3).

--Not sure if this qualifys them as "chick cars" though.

How bout the new Mini? Who thinks that will end up being a chick car??

in the past two months, I have seen 2 black and 3 silver C230K in LA area. Only one black C230k was driven by a woman in her 30's.

Wink depends on what color

It depends on what color, for example:

Red, and her younger sister pink, are definately chick colors.

Blue and Black are manly colors.

Silver is for eunuchs.

Someone, turn on the UGLY meter... this thread is going Belly-up by the minute...

Revstriker, I think half of the New Minis sold in the US will go to SCCA members, the other half to female paralegals who can't afford a 323i.

Damn, and I didn't help at all! Oh, well...

I wish MY chick loved it

I really like the C230k look and was seriously thinking of getting one, but the wife said she thought it was ugly ("too much like a CRX" were her words). This bummed me out. Although she said I can get whatever car I want, it doesn't make me feel too cool driving a car the wife hates. And in reality, she is the only woman I really need to care about in terms of if my car is attractive to "chicks" (i.e. getting some points for having a "cool" car).

So, for me, that kinda killed the brief love affair I had with the car.

But I am happy to hear that other women may like the car. I think it is a good blend between fun and prestige at a reasonable price. By the way, I still don't think I have ever seen one on the road in the Chicago area yet.

H-ness, I've spotted a total of two (a black one and a brilliant silver one), both in the week before I ordered mine. Not a glimpse since. I'm sure that once I have posession of mine, they will appear in Taurus-like hordes.

Thank god my wife loves it - I've never seen an ear-to-ear smile on her like the one she cracked when I first brought the benz home (she'd only seen it in the catalog before...). Actually, it started out as a smirk, but she couldn't control it and it broke wide open

Go tommy!

Orion-blue rulez - 'specially with that lovely leather job you did on yours. Congrats! That is one bad-*** color combination MB should consider picking up for their designo collection. Can't wait for a pic post showing exterior/interior together :p

Hey, it takes ***** to drive a Citron green C230k. And speaking of "girlie", there are 3 Z3's in the parking lot, all driven by women.:p

I would drive a C32 in Citron. But I am bizzare and would like to see the coupe in Yellow. Which would have the purists whirring in their graves.

yellow with Charcoal interior and the seats in charcoal with yellow inserts.

On another note I saw an amazing black CLK Conv at my local dealer with the Rust colored Designo interior. Beautiful car.
