broken interior door handle
so the door handle on the interior broke on my 04 c230k. the one that we usually pull to close the door. i'm sure this has happened to people before. how do i go about replacing this part. anyone know how much the part is? and how do i pull the door panel off? i've taken door panels off much lower grade cars. never one like this.

just bought this from parts.com...like $40 if i remember correctly...and there is a thread in the diy section on removing door panel...its easy, 4 torx screws 2 behind the door handle, 1 behind the srs badge, and one on the edge locking mechanism bracket thing that does the locking etc...

I'll make your life even cheaper and easier.
Both of mine broke 3 years ago. I went and got GORILLA GLUE... the small bottle.
This one: http://www.usaknifemaker.com/images/...ite%20pent.jpg
All you need is REGULAR GEL SUPER GLUE and that GORRILLA GLUE that DRIES WHITE.
You need to superglue the flat part where it makes the contact from the door and the door handle.
Next you need to use the gorilla glue and glue the round part of the door handle that broke off and the door panel itself.
Then shove it in place. The superglue should dry FAST to hold the gorilla glue in place. The gorilla glue expands make a super strong bond. So you need to put something heavy against the door handle. I used my college algebra book. Just remember not to put the gorilla glue near the outside edges. It will expand and be noticeable. Only the super glue should be on the outside edges to hold it in place. Leave it over night to dry and bam! easy fix.
Remember it takes a good 8 hours for that gorilla glue to dry and expand. Its a foamy hard glue, but its really strong. My handles has not came off ever since.
Good Luck!

so i just did mine only to find that the part was the incorrect part. Search 2 different sites including parts.com and getmercedesparts and they both listed the part# i ordered for my car as the correct one but when it is def much larger. So when i pulled it off to get the actual part # and put that number into getmercedesparts they said it was too a 2007 c230 sport not the 2005 c230k...very weird!

Does anyone have a picture of the fitting behind the door panel, into which the top part of the door pull connects?
The top part of my door pull comes out of the hole. It has a brass screw in the end. It does not appear to be broken. In fact I just received a new door pull and it does not look different than what is there.
Is there a fitting on the inside of the panel that could be broken?

no, the door hand screws into the door frame with 2 T-30 screws...the top is held into the leather by 2 clips on either side in the bottom is held in by 2 tiny screws...but regardless even with out all of that, its still held tot he door frame by 2 T-30 screws

Thanks for the info.
Please see the photos attached. You can see that the top is no longer connected to the door.
Also attached is a pix of the replacement handle.
It appears what ever the handle should be attached to is broken.
Does anyone have a pix or can explain what I will find when I pull the door panel?
What part do I need to replace?

Out Of Control!!
It's 10 mins to take off the panel. My suggestion is remove it and see what's on the other side. I have a coupe, so the handles are not the same, but it looks like there should be something that the screw that's attached to the handle should be going through something on the inside of the panel; my guess is that has torn off, which is why the screw came through, and the handle is no longer attached properly.

oh I'm not privy to the type of door handle you have, it must have changed or maybe its different depending on which options you have or something cuz mine does not look like that at all

c230 door handle pulled through
Thanks for the info. I went to the MB dealer yesterday to try to buy what ever part is on the back side of the door panel. A tech told me that it was part of the door panel. He recommended reattaching it with a large washer.
FYI I did find another thread with good pictures of the inside of the door panel--broken of course.
