Best Buy deployed my Airbag

I know, I had no business bringing my Benz to Best Buy to begin with, but while they were attempting to install my sub, they blew my passenger door air bag. I just got back from dropping my car off at the dealer and getting a loaner (a beautiful 2012 C300).

My question is this, since the airbag deployed without an accident and/or police report will it still show up on a car fax? If so, how much do you guys think the estimated depreciation would be for that?

I have a 2006 C230 Sport with 68k. I just got the thing 3 months ago and already someone de-virginized it

That sucks.
Someone smarter than me may be able to verify... but, I think things only show on Carfax if the auto body reports them. So you may need to ask the dealer. I would assume in this case it more than likely would not as it was not the result of a collision.

dealer would report your simple car wash on carfax, so try not to go to dealer...

It will likely show up as "Airbag replaced". That's not really indicative of anything. You could always say it was defective. The deployed door airbag doesn't really harm anything. It'll be good as new.

I assume Best Buy is picking up the likely hefty tab? Taking a Benz there is so much fail.. although we have a certain Best Buy employee that is a member on here that you could trust with any Benz.

It will deffinatly show up on the car fax but just keep records from bestbuy of how it happened and of mercedes benz that it was just a simple replacement and it should be to bad when you want to sell it. But wow bestbuys paying for that right?

Of course they're paying for it. Its entirely their fault. I only went there because I know the two installers there and they usually do great work. Unfortunately this time one of them hooked up a tone generator to what he thought was a speaker wire, but in reality was an airbag wire... and POP.

I kinda feel bad because I'm pretty sure they're gonna fire the one installer who did it. And yea.. Its gonna be a big bill..

Dealer came back with an estimate for the damage. Its $2176 plus tax (so far). Best Buy's insurance seems to be pretty cool. Not giving me any head aches (again, so far..)

They also did a full STAR diag and let met know my transmission mount has collapsed. I know its an 81 dollar part and should be done by an Indy as the dealer will rape me, but is it DIYable? After this, I'd like to do all (possible) work on my car myself.

How does the STAR computer tell you a mount has collapsed? They must have changed things big time for the 722.9.
