Bad exhaust fumes after catalytic converter removed
Hi Guys
So sometime ago i removed the catalytic converter from my car. I had it replaced with a silencer/muffler. Now, if i drive with the windows open i get a lot of exhaust fumes coming into the car. (never had this problem before i removed the cat). The fumes/smell is quiet bad! my eyes actually burn with the fumes.
I took it to the exhaust people, there are no leaks etc. in the exhaust system.
I don't know what to do?
Any suggestions?
PS. I drive a 2001 C180 non kompressor. The mileage is 301000kms

That's normal since you removed the cats! The cats are what reduce the exhaust/gasoline smell.
Nothing is wrong. If you want to reduce the fumes, then you have to put cats back on.

I get no fumes in the cab from a pre cat car. Something else must be wrong. There are a lot of cars on the road without cats & they do not have this problem.
Place a rag over your exhaust with the car running to hear whether there are any leaks.
Try extending the tail pipe a little to clear the rear bumper . Mine is adjustable.
