Fuel filter

Well I came back from the stealer with a quote for my 06. $685 These stealers really need to stop drinking before they come to work

So, remind me - did we determine that your car was produced before or after march 06 AKA integration of new fuel filter?
they obviously priced you out to replace the in-tank filter.
if so - their cost to you for the part alone is over $400 with the fuel sender. So, that # makes sense.
If you have the inline filter, you may need to call them back and inform them of this to get a corrected quote.

Dude, we already settled that I have an external filter, i.e. manuf. before 03/06. The stealer price is outrageous I am sure I can get it done for less than half the price.

And you still havent made clear if you made it clear with the dealer that there quote was for in-line or in-tank. If you assumed one or the other without double checking, then there is NO way to tell what they thinking. It is the dealer after all.

Better yet, don't even pay half of that cost and do it yourself. This job couldn't be easier. No one deserves over $50 in labor to do this.

I looked in w203 section and I didn't see anything on fuel filter change in there.

It is not placed by the left rear of the car, by the axle?
Or is yours different?
It's all pretty self explanatory, put on ramp.
Unbolt plastic covers, prop open with a screwdriver.
Put a pan there.
Pop clips on filter, one at a time, put hoses from old to new, put new
clamps on and tighten.
Wear some eye protection to keep from getting gas in your eyes,
use clamps on the hoses to keep the fuel from running out,
let the car sit for several hours or a day even and the pressure will be less.
Or bleed from the schrader valves on the fuel line under the hood, but that just sprays fuel everywhere under the hood, which I find worse than dealing with it under the car.

I hate to say it but your annoying comments were spot on I went to my first indy yesterday and he told me I bought the wrong fuel filter. I thought he had issues that day and just didn't want to do it. Ok, I just go to my main indy who will never steer me wrong. He even did a VIN search and concluded that I had the right filter. I get there and they show me that I had the wrong filter. Man, when I left someone would have gotten it



How could this have happened? Even my indy was stymied because my car was built before Mar. 06 so the change wasn't suppose to go into my car. Apparently it did. Now I have to send this filter back and eventually get the right one. I am not having problems so it was suggested that I just let it go for a bit. Even though I am over 100k now. Man, this sucks
