features i don't think i have

i was just looking at the features on a C230 and i don't think my car does the stuff in bold. and if it does, i don't think it's turned on and i have no clue how to turn it on. i'll have to check tonight i guess.

Driver-selectable light-sensing headlamps can be set via the Auto position of the headlamp switch to automatically illuminate in darkness, when entering dark tunnels, or with windshield wiper use.

Driver-programmable Daytime Running Lamps illuminate low-beam headlamps at reduced intensity (full intensity for optional Bi-Xenon lamps) in daylight, with auto-on override in darkness.

You activate the daytime running lamps from the "Settings" menu of the MFD. I know this because mine were on when I got the car. Not sure about the windshield wiper thing because I only turn the car to Auto when it get's dark (which sort of defeats the purpose of Auto I guess ).

The day time running lamps should be programmable via the steering wheel controls.

I'm disappointed. I would have thought you were one of those guys that read their manual before going to sleep. i'm pretty sure everyone here does this right?

The wiper thingy works when the light switch is set to auto and the wipers wipe more than once every 30 seconds. They turn on after 30 seconds of wiping and re-set if you switch wiper speeds. I turn my lights on anywyas when I use the wipers, so this feature is nice as long as I am not using the rain sense position, in which they turn off if there is not a wipe for 30 seconds. This would be great if they just turned on about 5-10 seconds after you turn the switch to any on position for the wipers and stayed on until you turn the wipers off, but apparantly the engineers did not think this way.

Some people leave their RS wipers on constantly.

what he said...

btw, no worry truelove, you're not the only one that don't remember much about the owner's manual. Heck I didn't even read one word from the manual because pretty much all the thing is self explainatory and easy to use. Besides, the brochure gives you pretty much all the info you would need to use those gagets and I've been in a MB since I was 4.

But then you get one "dry wipe" every time you start up --ouch :p This could lead to scratching the windshield...

My ML doesn't do that. Maybe it's just a fluke. I know it takes a single wipe when the wipers are turned on, but I haven't had them do that when I left then on an restarted the car. It has yet to rain since I've had my C, so I don't know on it yet.

Ah the dry wipe....

Not a fluke, it does the same thing in my S320 and C240.

In m S-Class manual, it says it does the single wipe as a reminder. Maybe that's just the creative spin...
