Changing the power steering pump Milkman? Just changed mine last year... Are you going with a full replacement pump with a pulley attached? Take your time with unbolting the A/C compressor from underneath and moving it out of the way to get to the ps pump bolts. I almost cracked my a/c compressor pulley by banging it on the side with a wrench cause it was in the way. Also be careful when you pull the reservoir off the original pump, if you pull too hard you could easily crack the insert onto the pump. You will have to replace it cause even the slighest crack can lead to drippy steering fluid. Not like im talking from experience or anything but other than that its a pretty easy job... Patience... and beer is key

I am in Marlboro, NJ. I myself wouldn't recommend doing the rebuild. The pulleys that are attached to the ps pump are pressed on, they don't remove with a screw like the good old days. Just to get the pulley off and on you will need a good puller for the pulley and then have it pressed on which is kind of a pain in the ***. The rebuilt ones also come without a pulley so you will have to have your pulley removed from the old pump then pressed to the new one. I think the brand new pumps have a new part number and are an updated model. All the new pumps come with the pulley already attached....hence the $400 price tag on majority of the sites we know around here. If you are in the area and need help let me know.

You sure it's the water pump weeping? I thought the same thing last year after replacing the ps pump. Karo helped me out with a nice PDF from WIS to do the replacement https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...vdemon311.html . After a few days of correct diagnosis I found out it was just an idler pulley, 50$ later, fixed. Water pump will be a little bit of a headache it seems like.

im not 100% its the pump it doesnt seem to be coming from the wp gasket so i just assumed it was weeping from behind the pulley

Yeah cali is a little far from NJ lol. I purchased my pump from a totalled c230 on ebay. Guy was selling the whole car. I called him and told him to just sell me the pump for 150$ with the pulley on it of course. Has been working perfect for the past 38k mi or so... Try to see if you can find a c230 that has been rear ended. If I haven't done so I probably would've went with a new pump that has the pulley attached.

Try to see if you can get your hands on a good automotive stethoscope... Or take a ride to a good indy that will have one and take the time with you to pinpoint where the noise is coming from. Luckily I had one on sale at the sears by my house. Took about two days and a few shots of vodka to correctly figure out that it was just a dumb pulley right in front of my nose.

You're hilarious with all your talk of drunken wrenching. Do we need to have an intervention?

Finally got around to pulling the pump off today, not difficult just time consuming I'm going to buy a new pump and send mine in as a core. I was wondering if u still had your original pump vdemon and if u were willing to part ways with it? I would like to try to rebuild it.
