Wrapping up year 4

I did this myself. And I gotta tell you, I'll never, ever, ever, ever attempt anything like this again. With everyone talking about how easy it is to DIY.. BS. I remembered very well why I pay people to do pretty much everything.

It works. But I broke a tab on the vents, two flaps on the vents, random other tabs but I wasn't even sure where they came from. Also I have been unable to get the panel under the glove box to go back together. You can't tell anything is wrong by looking down at the floorboard but the panel is not secured. Drew is going to help next month get that back in place as had I spent one more minute on it last night I would have been waiting for the insurance adjuster to look at the burned out shell of this car this morning. It took over FOUR hours for this. I followed the myMBonline instructions but they were quite vague to me.. "push tabs" doesn't tell me which way to push them, for example.
I need a new set of front vents.

I feel much better about getting Best Buy to do this for me now!

But I may be doing it at some point as I am collecting wood pieces for my dash. Maybe you can post some tips and traps.

We've been helping a guy on the CLK forum with Comand.
Here is my best tip: Pay someone to do it, it is NOT worth it.
My mechanic can't get to it till next week. In the morning I am going to start it up and record it and post it. It sure did sound like it, though it is pretty subtle. It would not do it again after that initial start, even after sitting some 6 hours.
Damn it. Damn it. Damn it. Damn it.

Good luck buddy. I'm sure you have caught it early. You've been listening for a while.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Keep in mind that it is quite amplified due to the hood being open and the phone being placed right in front of the engine. The other knock noise is very faintly audible in person but sounds much louder in this video. I'm not sure what it is but it has done it for as long as I can remember. Again you have to listen closely to the running engine to even hear that one.
The main concern of mine is the noise as the oil pressure comes up. This sounds pretty clear to me that it is the timing chain. I fear I have simply not noticed it as soon as I thought. Not to worry, though, as the car will not be started again until the chain is replaced next week. It will be towed to the mechanic and no further chances taken.

All I can see is a grey U Tube box. If I click the U Tube title it takes me back to the hung video on You Tube proper.

Also if you go to youtube.com/mlowery85 the video lists at the top. Might be better that way.

Listening at moderate level that sounds typical. You could probably drive it until the new chain is fitted but I'm not going to suggest it. Just our luck & it will let go.
That cluck cluck noise is minor piston slap. Many Benz engines do that due to short skirt pistons until fully warm.

It's been a stressful week at work compounded by this issue. I needed it. I am going to continue to let it sit, I think. I may need it once this weekend, but I'm going to make every attempt at not starting it again.
