Need help please!

Hi, I just replaced the coolant on a 02 c240 with the coolant from the dealer. After replacing the coolant the motor starting smoking a little. I turned the heat full blast and notice the heater only works on full blast on 80. Any other setting the heat doesn't work and I get cool air. The smoke seemed to stop, but the motor is very hot. But the car temperature gauge is around 85-90. Can anyone help me why the heat only works full blast, i would really appreciate it thank you so much.- jster

I don't have any specific knowledge about this but the first thing I thought of was if you "burped" the system...

But maybe i didn't bleed the radiator properly. Can you please provide me with a guide on how to bleed it properly. Is there a pressure release valve? Thank you very much. -jster

You must have air in the system if the auxilliary coolant pump can't prime which is why the heater won't work.

There is a coolant drain on the bottom of the block #71 but you need to get air out at the top of the engine.

Not to be a pain but how do you suggest I go about getting air out at the top of the engine? Is there a way that this can be done without draining the coolant, I just put 2 gallons of Mercedes coolant in yesterday i drained it from the bottom of the radiator plug, the red plug. Thank you very much.- jster

Multiple burping & starts without allowing to overheat should do it.
