C200 smoke when accelerating hard

Its probably normal but I thought it check. Happened twice now.

I was changing lanes at about 40km/h and floored it to get to 80km/h. I saw smoke in my rear view mirror. Car was cold as I'd only driven out of garadge a few minutes earlier, but didn't notice any smoke at 'normal' acceleration. Plus the first time it happened I can't remember if it car was cold or not.

This time I tried to replicate it 30 mins later. Floored it at the lights 0-70km/h and nothing.

Could it just have been because th engine was cold or should I get it checked? Next service is not due for a while.

I would not think this is indicative of any problem. But you definitely should not be demanding full power from a cold engine. What color was the smoke?

White by the looks of it.

I usually dont, but when merging the car in the other lane came up fast behind me. Usually its steady acceleration all the way to work.

Brown smoke under open loop at WOT cold = Overfueling. No problem. Just running a little rich in those circumstances.

Excuse my ignorance Glyn, what do you mean by overfueling? Do you mean I put too much petrol in? I do have a tenancy to fill as much into a tank as I can once a fortnight. I also only put in 98 RON.

He means the engine is in open-loop operation, dumping more fuel into the cylinders during warm-up. This can cause some smoke due to the excess fuel.

Yep just overfueling into cylinders. The brown smoke is unburnt/semi burnt fuel going out the exhaust.

Sorry for my comment.........some more info.....Continous white smoke coming from exhaust also indicates that the Coolant is being sucked into the combustion chambers and is being burned along with the air fuel mixture and the continous white smoke bellowing out of your exhaust is super toxic ....

He probably saw condensation. The engine was cold and he floored it.

I'm sure everything is OK.

Hy l am new to this forum and this has been happening to my car when l accelerate really hard l see a white blackish smoke in the mirrors but the car is completely fine l took it to Mercedes and they told me it was carbon buildup but it keeps on happening. But when it happens once and l hit the acceleration trying to see the smoke again l it doesn’t happen.
