Nitto Motivo or Falken PT-722
It is time for some new tires. My Falken ZE-612s have lived out there 20K miles (for a 40,000 mile tire) and I'm going to need some new shoes soon.
Looking at two options, the Nitto Motivo and the Falken PT-722. The Motivo is very new, I think it has only been out a month. The reviews on the Nitto website or glowing, of course, but can't fine a lot of unbiased opinions. Looks very promising though.
There are tons of reviews for the PT-722, and it seems to be a very good, all season performance/touring radial. Price difference is only $40 difference for a set, with the Falkens being cheaper.
For size, I can get the Nitto in a .25" taller 255/40/17, where the Falkens I would have to live with the rear being a smaller 245/40 diameter than the front 225/45/17. And oddly, the Nitto 255 is $9 cheaper each tire than the 245... wierd.
So, what do you think, Motivo or 722?

Yes, I agree that Michelin is the highest quality rubber and probably the best tire to buy. I just bought a set for my wife's Lexus. But, they were expensive. Not sure if it is worth the money since the C230K seems to like to eat tires quicker than any other car I've owned with just normal driving.
What model do you have, how much were they, and how long did they last?

Ended up going with the Motivo. Interested to see if an Ultra High Performance tire can last 60,000 miles as advertised.
Got the 255/40/17 instead of the stock 245 for the rears, now my front and back tires have exactly the same height, instead of the being .2" shorter in the rear. Definitely recommend the 255, evens out the front and back nicely without looking too big. Only affects the speedometer about 0.7 mph fast at 60 mph.
So far, tires are very quiet and good grip. Haven't gotten on them too hard or in the rain yet, Seems to have just a tad more sidewall flex than my old Falken 912, but that could be the taller sidewall in the rear as well. It is just barely noticeable. But, seems to suck up bumps nicely.
So far, I like them.

The Conti DWS is an excellent inexpensive tire, but it shines most brightly on 4Matic vehicles.
The Nitto is a good choice. It is really Toyo attempting to brand value added large diameter tires to increase that percentage of its market. The 60k mile warranty on the Nittos is simply to increase the Nitto percentage of sales from about ten to 15% of Toyo total sales.
Nitto has even solved the problem of the rice aroma coming from warm tires. They make a lot of them in the USA.

Yes, I thought it was interesting the Motivos were stamped "Made in the USA".
Come to find out, they are made in White, Georgia, at the only fully automated car and light truck tire manufacturer in the world. So robots made my tires without any human help. SKYNET?

Mich is a great tire. If I could rotate mine, maybe they would last longer than 25K miles like my last set of Falken 912.

just installed a set of Kuhmo's
I went the cheap route. I installed a set of Kuhmo Ecsta 4X tires from Tire Rack. I'd prefer Michelins, but the Kuhmos are 60% of the price and 90% as good.
After being noisy and riding like wooden wheels for they 1st 100 miles they are performing well. So far so good, and I recommend them as a decent cheap all season tire.
I have the standard 16" wheels not 17".

For those thinking of doing this, here is what it will look like.
Old n busted, Falkin 912, 245 rear with 225/45/17 fronts. This is also after getting 35% tint.
New hotness, with the Nitto Motivo and larger 255/45/17 rears
Since they are a whole .2" taller, there is not that much of a difference. Even the speedo shows exactly the GPS speed, though the math shows I should be travelling .7mph faster at 60mph than the speedo indicates... but no.
Another side view
Notice anything different? Instead of the regular AMG spoiler, I tried out the L shape spoiler from a China flebay dealer. Only 92 bucks shipped. Paint match was pretty good for a 7 year old car.
So if anyone is thinking of going to a 255, go ahead. I haven't noticed anything negative from going to this size. No rubbing, speedo is still accurate, no ABS light, no change in MPG, basically no change from the stock 245.
