ATTENTION... Request for Civility on This FORUM, and Other Rules... Please Read
Honestly, I don't want to bring up this subject, because it affects so few people compared to the membership at large. However...
There has been a significant increase in the number of "Posts reported to Moderators" recently... a majority pertaining to the W203 forum, in particular. In addition, all of the Mods are receiving a larger than normal amount of PMs from members asking for intervention to assist in bringing a renewed friendly atmosphere to this forum.
It must be the moon...
This is my humble attempt to ask for cooperation. These forums are intended for the friendly exchange of ideas and opinions. For the most part, this forum has been -- and continues to be -- a friendly place.
However, lately I have noticed (and fellow members have noted in their PMs to us) an increase in the amount of unfriendly banter in this forum, including juvenile name-calling, and the use of creative ways of circumventing the site's auto-editing features to include offensive language in various posts.
Simply put, this trend must stop, IMMEDIATELY.
You are entitled to your opinion related to cars, but not related to bashing each other. The mods are NOT engaged to big-brother your posts. But that also means that we expect all members to self-police their language. If the abusive language is to continue, several members will begin receiving nasty notes from the mods, followed by disciplinary action as may result if compliance is not forthcoming.
Please think before posting... if you think the language you intend to use might be abusive, assume that it IS abusive, and modify your words accordingly.
98% of the folks here already use this sense of self-moderation. It is for this vast majority that we insist that everyone conform to the sense of friendliness that has been a hallmark of MBWorld.
Thanks to all for your attention, and your cooperation.

True, lets keep it floating. Also , it would be a good idea to bann any person who uses vulgar language the first time. It would make things so peaceful here. Maybe give warnings to the less serious situations. Just a thought

Alright, already. Enough. I did not post this thread to solicit more childishness. I posted this thread to restate the obvious... Watch what YOU say, and I will insist that everyone else watch what THEY say.
I will take each of you clowns to the virtual woodshed if this doesn't stop, NOW!

Out Of Control!!
BenzOwner02 and Matt230K:
Please re-read the original post in this thread. You have both demonstrated your lack or respect for this forum by continuing bash each other, even in the thread encouraging you (and everyone) to be more civil.
The administrators and moderators do and will take action when ever we feel that someone has posted something offensive. Most of the time, this will not be done in public, but rather in private.

Important Announcement... Please Read
Folks, the Admins and Mods have had to put several members on temporary (30 day) banning lately due to non-compliance with the Terms or Use. It is expressly forbidden to advertise any business on this site (car related or otherwise) unless the member is an MBWorld Sponsor. The Terms of Use are reposted here as a refresher.
Terms of Use
Normally, we PM the offending member to remind them of their TOU obligations... Bannings (for anything other than obvious spamming) are undertaken after repeated offenses.
Because we have seen a rise in the number of these incidences, I thought it worthwhile to once again remind everyone of this prohibition, in case some of you so inclined think the admins and staff are not serious. We are!
Members wishing to become a sponsor are encouraged to PM one of the Admins (Mr. Vanos or otoupalik).

Why Some Threads are Closed Early... Please Read
As for why threads are closed, please understand the following...
1) The W203 is in its last year of production, and the Coupe is no longer imported to the US. As a result, there is a wealth of information within the archives, compiled over 5-years now. I realize for the new folks that a question is a "First" for you. However, nearly everything that can be asked has been, so we ask members (new and old) to try to use Search first...
2) The search option at MBWorld is among the very best in vBulletin forums. It's almost impossible not to get a search result on just about any topic. When new threads are created on a subject for the 300th time, however, it creates search result lists that are very long, making it difficult to sift through all the threads to find the answer.
The vast majority of members use search frequently, so the benefit of closing duplicates before they become long threads benefits the general membership more than allowing duplicate threads that diminish the value of searching the forum.
3) The members want to preserve the benefit of the search function, and so have asked we on the staff to institute these procedures. Closing threads is better than deleting threads outright, which we don't want to do.
Instructions on how to search threads are posted in a STICKY thread at the top of this forum. Here is a Link to it... STICKY on Searches
Finally, If you have complaints regarding the policies on this, please write a Private Message (PM) to one of the moderators, rather than whining about it here.
