Brake fluid

Hi

I was planning to change my brake fluid, so I bought a can of 1 liter with ATE DOT4 SL.6.

And I jsut noticed that the cap on the reservoir said "use only Dot 4+ bla bla bla".

Will the Dot 4 Sl.6 damage my system. It's even specified for systems with ESP according to the shop where I bought it.

It's a 01-mod if that has anything to do with it.

I was going to say I used it, too, but after Glyn approves of it, there just isn't much more to say about it!

The benz abs system needs low viscosity fluid. If this stuff is low viscosity then great. Seems it works for others. I did the mistake of using regular DOT4 fluid and the ABS warning went on. Had to flush and refill with MB fluid.

ATE SL.6 is specially formulated for ABS and EPS systems. Their documentation specifies it is designed for systems with "a large number of extremely fine bores and ducts". I replaced the fluid in my car with ATE SL.6 almost 20,000 miles ago and have had no issues. It has worked flawlessly.

It's not the only fluid that will work, but it has been fine for me.

If you don't listen to me, listen to Glyn. You will never go wrong.

+1^ Ate SL.6 is perfect for these cars. Ideal viscosity for fast acting ESP, BAS etc systems.
