comand installs eastcoast and LA/Bay
I am starting my preparations for my next US comand install trip (last week of august/first 2 weeks of september) so if anyone is interested in an installed new US spec comand with MB warranty till february 2004 (1400USD), please mail me at s_krabbenborg@hotmail.com .
Before starting asking questions, please do a search on comand and or MBenzNL to read more about the system and my work/feedback... Link to comand related MBWorld threads .
Some example pictures of previously installed comand systems can be found here (several pages with pictures) .
I will be in California (Bay area and LA area) for sure and might go to the NY, Boston and/or Washington area as well but that depends on the confirmed installs needed to make it worthwhile for me.

Very interested in a Comand purchase and install if your travels bring you to NYC or Washington. Boston is a bit out of the way however for me being in Philadelphia.

I am interested in one of these, does the price of 1400 include instalation? Also can you send me a picture of the imputs on the back of the unit, can you hood a DVD player to it? thanks

I just bought my c230 Komp couple weeks ago and have US Nav. Anyone interested in swapping out a US Nav so that I can get EuroNav installed by Steve? Let me know if you're interested and live in the SF Bay Area. Steve - I've e-mailed you before about the Bi-Xenons, but was wondering if you are also installing them. Please let me know the price w/install since you may be coming to the Bay soon. Thanks!

Is it too late for me to get the comand install? I didnt have the chance to visit the forum for the last 2 weeks. I live in LA.
Would I be able to get Aux-in with the install?
Also, does anyone know which dealer in LA or surrounding areas that'll program the dash display to work with the naviation without giving a fuss?

I am looking for the 4 wood trim parts for the W203 sedan to replace my Coupe aluminum parts. 4 pieces - Instrumentation bezel, Ash tray lid assembly, transmission tunnel and cupholder cover.
Also like the look of the R230 wood steering wheel that you have used on some W203 cars. I prefer the 3 spoke steering wheel, but they probably don't make a wood trimmed one. So the R230 wheel will do. I have a cloth Oyster interior, will the wheel below look alright?

That wheel is orion/ash...not oyster (won't look good) and the R230 airbags don't fit every W203.
The W203 uses 2 different connectors for the MF part in the airbag...some 203s use a 3pin connector and some use a 4pin connector. All R230s use 3pin connectors so only the 203s with a 3pin connector for the MF part in the airbag are compateable...

There are several options to get your hands on one.....
1. Ebay
2. "borrow" or buy from your dealer (mine let me borrow one for a few hours)
3. "borrow" one from somebody on MBWORLD

I bought my map cd-rom from Continental Imports. The Navtech DX software used by the Blaupunlt DX-N is exactly the same as that used by COMAND. They are much cheaper than the dealer.

Lynn, Are these maps the same as the standard Mercedes maps? Hopefully they're more detailed, because the ones from Mercedes really suck. None of the street names show up at all on the map, only the current Steet that the car is traveling on - unless this deficiency is in the Nav itself. . . .

Ipod to Aux In
I just bought an Ipod to hook into the Aux in and it works great. Just need to get a mini-plug to mini-plug cable for transfer and a car adapter for power. Now if only the Ipod can integrate with the steering wheel controls and song info can show up on the Nav screen.

bi xenons for the sedan (still not for thr coupe) are available...and can be shipped anytime...
