New C230 Owner - Radio Peel
Hello all,
Just bought a 2007 C230 and I have a small issue and am not sure how to fix it.
The clear coat/ tape started peeling off the head unit. Never owning one of these cars I assumed the previous owner didn't peel off the protective plastic on it. Once I started peeling it back I realized that it was held on by glue or adhesive and not just static. It looks like utter crap and am not sure what my options are.
Please see the pictures below.
Please advise. Should I buy a new unit?

Yes that is a 6MT, I prefer to stay away from auto transmissions. I tried getting some window tint and it came out with so many bubbles, looked worse with it than without. I already found a new OEM deck for $200 I am going to pick up... Also, just got a CEL for thermostat reading to low. I'm having bad luck already.
Is this difficult to replace?

Sorry I meant to say 200 for a used. I bought it. Just waiting for it to arrive. Will I be locked out of this unit and need the dealer to unlock it? Or should it just be plug and play?

Before you install it, there should be a sticker on it with the serial # on it. Get that # and call the parts department at your local dealer. They will be able to give you the radio code for it. As the radio code is specific to each radio, not the car.

Update - I installed the used deck (face is mint) and it needed no code.
Phister, I'm from Toronto Canada so shipping from MB world would probably come close to just buying it at a higher price.
Picture attached is the new deck.
