Car wont start

So this is the third time this has happened in about 2 weeks. Car just wont start. I know it doesnt have anything to do with the battery. It seams like it isn't getting any gas. After about 10-15 minutes it will start. It has only happened when there was less than a quarter of a tank of gas in the car. Once it starts the CEL will stay on for a bit then go off. Last time I thought it was bad gas but I guess not... Anyone ever had a similar problem?

Fuel filter clog? If you normally let your gas tank get so it could have sucked in a piece of sediment that eventually accumulates in all gas tanks.

I thought about that too. If that were the case wouldn't it stay clogged though? For some reason if you wait about 10 minutes it decides to start.

Yep... That sounds about right.

Now do I bring it to the stealer and have them fix it under warranty or just do it myself out of fear of once again being raped by the stealer?

Depends on the dealer I suppose...
I had so much stuff done for free by the stealer.
If they didn't do what I wanted, I got a different SA, or went to another dealer.
Seems to me, you should be able to use the warranty?

Dealer/warranty. Do you have a bunch of engine mods that you don't want them to see? How could they rape you?

No mods... Not me so much, more like the warranty company. They try to milk the warranty for everything they can and my car ends up being there for 3 weeks while they fight with them. I have never had a warranty bill less than $1500.

Extended warranty, now I see what you mean. There's enough information to DIY on this forum and the part costs under $100 on line and has one bolt mounting it to the outside of the block.

This should not even have anything to do with my extended warranty. According to the posts in this thread it should be covered under the factory emissions warranty.

I haven't had a chance to. A buddy of mine has a scanner and said I could borrow it but I haven't been able to get it from him. I am 99% sure its the CPS the way it has been described and with the additional research I have done. Everytime I have had to take the car in I have known what was wrong with it and informed the SA when I dropped it off. I am beginning to think that pisses them off for some reason.

It should be covered under your extended warranty but it's not emissions related. It's a fixed reference point for timing. There's a list somewhere of what is covered under the emissions warranty and I doubt you'll find the CPS on the list. I'm guessing if you caught and cleared the code each time the CEL lit they would all be different depending on what cycle the engine was in when it failed. I read one post where the person sprayed the CPS with an aerosol cleaner to cool it off and get it working again until they could make it to the shop.

BTW, why would you replace it yourself, it's covered under the Clean Air Act as an emmissions control device and covered for 80K miles.

If it's covered that's cool It has nothing to do with emissions and everything to do with just making the engine run though.

I thought the same exact thing but then I read this. I spoke with my dealer a few minutes ago and they said "diagnostics, blah blah blah.... BUT IF it is the CPS your warranty should cover it and it should only take half a day." I will not hold my breath thats for sure.

Crank Position Sensor replaced at dealership=$415. Thankfully covered under extended warranty, not emissions warranty...

Once again we are reminded what a rip off dealers are. No way that required more than 15 minutes to replace. Glad your extended warranty covered it as it should.

No kidding! $415 for a little piece of plastic... This is why I just test drove an Acura TL.

1.5 years of ownership=$7000 in maintenance costs.

2002 C320 Sedan
Fuel Pump Issues C320

Hi I drive a 2002 C320 Sedan and last week I came out to my car and it wouldn't start. It would turn but just didn't seem like the fuel pump was kicking on, I checked a ton of fuses and they were all gettting power. So I had it towed to the dealer they looked at it and had replaced the fuel pump and mounting plate (Not sure why they had to replace that) and yesterday I was driving and my car dashboard lights all lit up and my engine just shut down. So I pulled over to the side of the road took the key out and tried to start it again and it was doing the same thing as it did last week.

Does anyone have any advice on how to handle this?
Is there a chance the dealer fixed the wrong problem?
Has anyone had similar problems?

Any help is very much appreciated,

Thanks!!!!!!
