Fixing paint chip, is it worth it?

A few months ago my bumper got hit while parked on the side of a street, it was a hit & run and the damage was very minimal except for one "crack" after I cleaned it up and waxed it, so I decided it wasn't worth making a claim.

Today as I'm getting out of my car to go to school I notice that the cracked area has peeled off and it's very noticeable(to me at least)

I assume it's hard to paint over a single spot so you'd have to paint the whole bumper? Would it be worth it? My biggest worry is the fact that it might peel more if I leave it alone.

Here's a pic of the damage:

Worth fixing? Well..., I guess that depends on if you want to keep your car looking good or not.

Worth going through insurance? Depends on your deductible. Painting a bumper sholdn't cost more than a few hundered bucks, so not necessarily worth going through insurance.

You can try this product https://mbworld.org/forums/off-topic...aint-pens.html I bought a while back from a former vendor on here. It worked ok for me. Keep in mind it is touch up paint. I have a chip like that on my front spoiler that I might use this touch up paint on. I am going to put a lip on so it isn't a concern for me

if you do a professional paint job it'll run a few hundred plus they'll blend part of the fenders to match. or you can diy and order an aersol can and just wet sand the chipped part and spray it yourself and then spray clearcoat. you can order a can from automotivetouchup.com

If I were you I would have to get it fixed but thats just me. Well, it depends on the car... if it was my old W202 I wouldn't but thats because its not worth it to me but if it was my W209 I wouldn't think twice... I would just get it fixed. So like somebody else said it depends how nice you want to keep your car looking.

I already have an aerosol spray can for my car, so I might go through with this option. I had some work done near the fuel tank awhile back(it was a long scratch, was there when I bought the car) and the guy gave me the paint to keep.

I've never done a paint job myself but I'm assuming the hardest part would be to blend it? Do you have any tips for this process or a video? What grade of sanding paper should I use? Any recommendations on the clear coat brand/style?

Here's a picture of the paint I've got(still plenty of it, #747 granite gray metallic):

It's my first car and I am really really picky on having it perfect. Of course the more I drive it, the more things are going to go wrong. Thing is, the interior is virtually perfect with only minimal wear and tear, and the outside is quite clean as well except for this chip, and it stands out so the only thing holding me back from fixing it is inexperience in this area..

Yeah I understand thats how I am. Looking from the picture you posted it seems like its in great shape. If I were you I would go get a few estimates because in my opinion if you are as picky as I am it will never look right if you try to fix it yourself and then you wasted the money on the paint and supplies to fix and you'll end up taking it somewhere to get it repaint.

Yeah I'd probably be unsatisfied if I did the job myself to be honest. I got a few quotes for $250-$350 to fix it. One reliable shop said that they'd fix it for $250 if there was no other damage, since I sent in a photo they said I'd need to take it in to get a better look at the damage. It's also cold winter here (-17 Celsius today) and I know that you should paint at an optimum temperature as well.
