I will start my car up then there will be a ticking sound like a rattleing out of the dash board and it will then go away after driving. Could that be because I have a tape stuck in my tape player? It sounds like its more towards the driver side. Any ideas?

The vast majority of the time,... its not actually the stepper motor,.... but the plastic linkage to the stepper motor. MB part# A203-830-00-33,... which sells for about $20US.

The clicking sound (every 4-5 seconds) would disappear about 30-45 seconds after you start the car,... regardless of whether your drive off or not.

Playing with HVAC selection will confirm its the plastic linkage for foot well vent that's busted.
