Aftermarket D2S HID kit in OEM Bi-Xenon housings? Is it possible?

I searched around and couldn't find an answer to this specific situation. I'm in the market for some OEM BiX and I keep running across pairs that do not include ballasts and bulbs. Would it be possible to use an aftermarket D2S HID kit (like this kit or this 55w one from VVME) in the factory BiX headlight housings while maintaining cutoff and auto-leveling? Or should I definitely go for the OEM ballasts and bulbs?

Thanks

I have not tried it but I dont see why not. Keep in mind if its not the OEM ballast/ignitor the connector will not be plug and play and it also may not bolt onto the headlight housing like the stock one does (meaning you will have a giant hole in your headlight, and the bottom, that you need to seal)

But theoretically, yes.

BTW, those ARE the cheap ones that do nothing at all. For quality things and a lot of useful info, http://www.theretrofitsource.com is where I like to go. They only sell high quality stuff.

They are cheap but VVME is actually great quality for the price. My current kit from them has been going for 2 years strong, no issues.

Well Ive had a few of the 40$ HID kits (btw, they are all made by the same company, not sure who tho)
They do work, but compared with OEM they do a poor job at light output. You need to get a 55W cheap kit to get a 35W kind of light output, and it never seems to project quite as well.
But I've never had a 40$ D2S kit though (only h4 and h7s), maybe someone here has tried replacing their OEM with the cheaper kits and can give an opinion?

Also, OEM quality should last upwards of 6 years without ever flickering, most aftermarket ive tried barely got past 1 and even when new they would always flicker when heating up. (with relays, without relays etc etc)

ok so here it goes jtw......you can definatly use the D2S bulbs provided your bix bulb holder is a D2S type holder/blub plug socket.....now the headlight housing....you see the OEM housing has multiple accessories within the housing and all those are connected/routed through a centralised/waterproof etc point i.e. via the plug, now if you want to use an after market ballast setup then you will need to connect this directly to the bix plug and that entails in running the wire from the ballast to the bix assembly and for this you will need an exit/entry point into the waterproofed headlight assembly, not that it cant be done but you just need to be careful...what I would recommend is try reseraching and reading up more and find a reliable solution, I am sure some one out there must have come up with way to do this properly.....hope this helps and if you find some thing useful please do post up here and share with all of us....

thankx

Thanks very much everyone for your input. When I find a pair of OEM BiX at a price I like, I'll let you know what I end up doing.

The auto leveling feature will not work on your car unless you've already got it. I believe that works in conjunction with a couple of sensors at the front and aft of the car in order to obtain vehicle angle. Someone correct me if i'm wrong because i'm not the most familiar with that feature on the 203's.
