throttle-by-wire

My biggest gripe about my C240 is the serious throttle lag. I AM SURE it is due to the throttle-by-wire system. Does anyone know of a system or chip that alters the car's computer and eliminates the lag?

thanks
Jim

Dunno, but we've got it on our 230 too. I have to plan ahead for stuff like making turns between oncoming cars. Geez, by now if the throttle kicked in right away, I'd wind up ramming our Benz into the side of some car while it went by...

Are you guys talking about how when you floor it, the car takes a noticable time to downshift and then gas it?

I thought this is an uniqueness (but not desirable) you would only be able to find in old or new MB.

I have read that this weird throttle tip in is common across the MB line and has been for years. It is much less pronounced in cars with standard transmissions.

Agreed.

I can't stand driving our C320 Auto, my C230 Coupe Stick feels faster when driving around...much more responsive.

This is the most dissatisfying thing about this car..when you step on the gas, you wait ..and you watch the Dodge Neons pass you by.

this is common to MB. our 97 e420 does the same thing. it's what gives the characteristic catapult (aircraft carier kind) acceleration. fun in the e with its extra power. irritating at times in the c.

I think this is a feature MB has incorporated to protect your neck!

I agree completely. This is the only problem I have with my car. Before this car, I had a V6 Toyota Solara and it had the smoothest and most responsive engine & trasmission i had ever experienced, and it only magnified this problem for me.
