My Mercedes C240, 2001, would not accelerate soon when pressing the gas pedal after a stop. More seriously, there have been two times when I stopped at a red light and the car stayed running , as it turned green i hit the gas but the car would not accelerate at all, just like in neutral gear. But it started working normal after I restarted the car. It was very dangerous when these problem occurred many times. Does anyone know what the possible problems there could be or what parts I should get replaced or changed or if there is any way to fix it?

Any helpful answers would be greatly appreciated!

Did any check engine lights come up? I'd go to autozone, pep boys, or any other shop that offers free check engine light.

Does it act like it is not taking the gas or what ? did it ever die on you after you stop , regardless of going straight or turning ?

Check the vacuum lines between the throttle body and brake booster
on the driver's side behind the engine.

I had a line at the red valve(?) go out a couple years after I bought her.
First time I noticed was jamming on the throttle hard after moderate braking... and why am I still sitting here 3 seconds later?

If that describes your experience, try looking at those vacuum lines.

Check for stored codes. Can be vacuum lines but could also be TPS (throttle position sensor), The TB servo/actuator etc.

downhill at stop light, engine just stops. i pull n right side, restart engine and everything is fine, like nothing happened.
other times at lights, car stalls a little, delay of 1-2 seconds when accelerating, and afterwards when running full speed at highway or through town, rolls like a baby.
replaced fuel filter. didnt solve problem, new spark plugs too.
yesterday when it stopped engine , red light came on and said check battery/alternator. restart car, like nothing happened, worked fine.

There is no way this is not leaving a code. Get a Star scan and see what is wrong.
