Anyone had luck selling their C230's?

Been having trouble shifting my mint C230 6-speed. Wondering if it's just the 6-speed that is making it hard to get gone or what.

Anyone else sold or purchased recently? If so can I ask roughly what was paid or sold for and how you found your car? Trying to maximize the exposure of where I list the car for sale (other than on the MB forums).

Have you priced your car according to what the market supports?

The guy I bought my coupe off of last summer had it listed for 2 months on Craigslist for $5300 with 66k and its a 6 speed also. I ended up giving him $4900 and it came with 2 sets of wheels and tires. I think I got an awesome deal on it. But it seems that the 2 coupes that are on Craigslist in my area have been listed for a long time.

Seems to show 12500-13500 depending on mileage and condition.

Car has 74k miles on it, i've put 400 miles on it a month during my ownership, and i've done roughly 8k of maintenance at the dealer or indy with receipts in the last year.

What do you guys think would be a fair asking price?

Kbb.com is your friend. List it high and hope you get a decent offer.

Well you've limited yourself to the ~6% of the market that buys manual. And as a previous owner of a C230 6-sp I wouldn't wish that tranny on anyone.

Sounds more like 10-11K in my neck of the woods, but your area might be different.

And yes, the manual transmission might have a slight negative impact on the ability to sell. Potential market for manuals is definitely smaller. Unless you find just that one enthusiast that wants to have a manual W203, of course. They are out there, but will take some time to find them.

I'll have to agree with both of you on this one. The manuals appeal to me because I love driving them. But I think the manual is a little more appealing in the coupes since it was a car designed to compete with the GTI, Acura RSX ect. While I'd be interested in a manual sedan most of the buyers would be more likely to find an auto in the same price range if they are looking for this specific car. This is probably why MB decided to get rid of manuals after 2010

Doesn't hurt to list it on craigslist.

I was in the opposite boat when looking for my car, I was looking for a manual and I got lucky on mine and finding it at a honda dealership helped because they didnt know anything about it and I basically talked them down 3k from the sticker price.

MB’s
I tried selling my W203 years back when i first bought it because i have buyers remorse. Absolutely 0 demand it seems like and no real calls or emails on it. I just ended up keeping it as a run around car. I may do one more year with and try again because I figure it will be near worthless and the cheaper the car the more of a market there is.

With your car I would defiantly say because its a 6-speed! Either that or you have some crazy one off color :P

Great looking color and a great looking car! I just cannot understand why W203's were never big on the used MB market.

That is a great looking car! Ultimately though, it is 8 years old.. I think 12k to 13k is just too much. I'm with whoever said 10k. Have you tried Carmax?

Edmunds gives it a private party sales price at $9k. Yes, I factored in the low mileage.

So the combination of 6-speed and high asking price (I'd say that the price is scaring off any people who would be man enough for the manny) are killing any interest you might otherwise have. You need a price drop before anyone will be interested, imho.
