Constant heat from footwell

Hi Guys

I tried searching the forum to find a solution to my problem but i didnt find any topics about this.

Im getting constant heat/warm air from the footwell of the car.

The heat/warm air also used to come out of the dashboard vents, but after re-gassing the aircon, theres minimal to no heat/warm air now from those vents.

The aircon works just fine when i use it, cold air does come out of the footwell vents.

What could be causing this problem?

Constant heat from footwell

Hi Selwng,
I too have the same model benz & very similar problem. The only difference between our issues seems to me to be that I get the heat in the footwells whether the A/C is running or not. I had posted my problem and received some advice concerning searching on the forum which was helpful but didn't result in me being able to progress my problem...
I have been searching the forums for days trying to find a thread that includes the heat coming to the footwells when the A/C is not on but have been unable to find one.

I was wondering was your problem solved by replacing the stepper motors? Or if not stepper motors whether you were able to fix it an if so what the solution was?
I am desperate for help on a solution to this unwanted heated air in the footwells.
So can you please let me know how you got on?
Many Thanks from a non-mechanically minded Marcus Francis

You have a flap sticking, or a failed stepper motor or a broken stepper motor arm.

Look up "Climatronic diagnostic easter egg" for reset procedure.

I am having the same problem in my 220D, do you think I could be having the same problem with a "stepper motor"? It's a '73

Easter egg reset procedure

As I have the same problem, I just followed the “easter egg reset procedure” - Pressing & holding “Defrost” & “Recirculate” buttons for 10s until they start flashing. (Buttons are next to each other below temp adjustment knobs.)

. https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...imatronic.html. This trick helped. I’m not having hot air blowing at my legs any more.
