Question A/c receiver drier

Quick question, I'm soon to replace my a/c compressor and receiver drier but I've seen multiple sites showing to different models/pictures and not sure as to which is the correct one because they both say "Exact fit for my vehicle".

Here are the two different ones. Please enlighten me on the correct part.

go to rmeuropean or mymercedesparts and it'll give you the part number for the one you need.

Thanks for the reply... Looks like I'll need both pieces?

The top is the insert that goes into the bottom piece.

I wonder if anyone's ever replaced the receiver drier on here?.....

I have replaced my AC compressor, drier & expansion valve on my
2002 C240. Mine just used the "drier insert". I think midway thru the 2005 year they may have changed over from being able to just replace the cartridge to replacing the whole assembly. On my 02 C240 the drier assembly is mounted vertically between the headlight & the radiator (passenger side).
The 05 & newer models I believe use the drier assembly mounted horizontally below the radiator. You will have to remove the lower engine cover to have a look.
Here's a photo of where my drier assembly is on a 2002 model. Good Luck.

Thanks for the reply... I'm hopinh to install mine Saturday/Sunday morning. Ordered a new Denso one for about 407$ after shipping. Did you have to use any special tools? From this write up
"https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w203/362993-c-compressor-removal-replacement.html"
it only mentions needing a 12" extension, torx, allen, and "small hands" Hah. And it looks like I may be needing to order the bottom pictured since I did read the drier is located under the radiator.

On the older models (2001-2004) which used the "drier insert", you need a 27mm (o.d.) hex tool that is hollow thru the center to remove the cap on the metal drier cylinder.
If yours is the complete drier assembly, I don't think you will need this tool.
Good luck and let us know how the job went.

May I ask if you put compressor oil in the dryer/drier when you replaced it. If you did, how much oil did you put?

The Star service DVD says that when replacing the AC drier insert you should add 20ml (approx. 1 oz.) of compressor oil (PAG 46).

DAMN... did you check out amazon...?? I got an OEM condensor for I believe $120, and when I replaced my compressor I think that was 250 or below OEM.
