Parking Brake Sensor

My friend has a 2006 C230 sedan and her parking brake malfunction is on all the time.

I checked and the brakes are not stuck because the car would roll on a slope easily while on neutral. I was told that this is a common issue for this car and the sensor should be lubricated. The sensor is under the rear seat, can someone tell me how to remove the rear seat?

Believe you can just give it a good yank. They're held in by clips if I remember. I was able to just pull up the corners when I ran my wires for my system

The e brake switch is at the front in the foot mechanism at S12

You would do well to lubricate everything including cable mechanism under rear seat.

Thanks, Gyn.

I was told that the parking brakes sensor is under then rear seat. So, to remove the rear seat, I have to remove the 4 covers first then the 4 sets of nuts.
From your last picture, is the parking brakes sensor under the circular metal cover or is it inside the hole in the middle?

I found a bottle of Dura Lube in the house. I will probably use it.

The sensor is not under the rear seat. It's on the pedal mechanism under the dash at S12. The one adjuster & cables are under the square cover under the back seat. All you can do there is lubricate the cable.

The round covers are for the fuel level senders & pump.

OK, I see. My buddy who used to be a SA in MB dealership told me that this was a common issue with w203, the cable under the rear seat got stuck. an easy fix is to lubricate this cable. I misunderstood that the sensor is there.

After removing the 4 screws, do I just slide the rear seat out? Any other clips?

From your diagram, I can see there is a cable going to the back. Is this the cable I should spray the lubricant?

With the seat nuts off just pull & the lower squab comes out.

Lubricate the swivel & cables here:

I can see, in the last picture, that there are 3 cables, one to the front and 2 to the back. I will spray the lubricant to these 3 cables and step on the foot brake a few times.

Hope this will get rid of the malfunction.

Yes, this friend is a girl. More importantly, I kinda was the one who caused this issue. I drove her car one day and parked on my driveway which has a slight slope. I stepped on the parking brake without knowing that she never uses the parking brake.

I always use my parking brake when I park my w209. Force of habit because all my previous cars had manual transmissions.

I rmoved one of the covers and took a look. There is a metal plate, hold in place by bolt. I can remove the bolt and then what? Should I pull the mteal plate out?

This is not my car so I have to be careful.

Undo the centre cover plate & pull it off.
