Why get Bose?

To be quite honest with everyone, I don't see why anyone would want to spend extra to get the Bose sound upgrade...My mom who drives a C320 has it, and I don't, but I can hardly tell the difference....Some have complained about the non-Bose system in the C-Class, but my '04 has great range, and decent base...just an observation

RE: Bose System

I dont know about other models but the C320 sedan come standard with Bose system. No complaints with my system. Its not the greatest, but yet not the worst system every on a car.

For me, when I ordered the car I did not want BOSE, from previous bad experience with the product. However, when I decided what I wanted in the car I believe it was a $50 difference to take the package over seperate options that I wanted. For the $50 I would have been stupid not to take the package with the BOSE. I took out the headunit after 2 days and kept the BOSE speakers. I am happy with the sound quality, and glad that I didn't have to change the speakers or add an amp.

get the premium package with the bose, rain sensor wipers, etc. so the cost of the bose is less. then buy an audio10 and youll hear the difference in a bose with an audio30 and a bose with an audio10. try an audio 10 in you rnon-bose unit and see how it sounds.

That is what most people call the Alpine CM1010 cassette headunit in our cars. I don't think it is really the same as the Audio 30 sold in the rest of the world.

The Bose system with the factory headunit is terrible. I am hoping for a good imporovement when I upgrade to the Audio 10.

Anyone know if the Audio 10 makes use of the added speakers that you get with the bose system, such as the front center fill speaker?

If you have Bose, all the speakers are driven by the Bose amp, so the answer is yes, all the speakers will work with an Audio 10.

A new Audio 10 is $649 at Auto Class. You can also be them on ebay, especially German ebay. Some are used, but some are new. I think Steve Krabbenborg could also get one for you.

avlis is selling his. Info here.

________________________________

Right, so the Bose outputs to all speakers, regardless of headunit, but does the audio 10 feed all of the same input signals to the amp. For example, if the Bose amp is powering the center channel, but the Audio 10 has no output for center channel, then there would be no center channel sound.

Does anyone have a pin-out for the audio 10? That would answer the question.

Also, does the Audio 10 have the enhanced sound controls that the Bose sytem has (Driver, Ambience, Speech)

The headunit is connected to the Bose amp by fiber optics.

The Audio 10 does not have the enhanced sound controls.

Fiber optics, right, can't believe I asked that question since I knew it was a fiber connection... too much jumping around between my 95C280 (non-fiber) and my 03C240. thanks!
