Would like to "see" or "hear" what you've done the shelf/nook/cranny below the radio. Obviously it should be more than a convenient sunglass holder.
Has someone come up a hinged laurel wood cover? Is there such a thing on the market?

I leave my MP3 player in there - connected to the cassette adapter that's permanently stored in the deck.
Don't leave a phone up there - it fell out once while I was accelerating and left a minute dent in the ash tray cover.

Before I replace my radio with Comand, the slot is for my sunglass and pens only. I tend to forgot my wallet/cellphone in the car if I pull it out. So I always put valueable stuffs on the door pocket so people can't see it if I left in the car.
Don't miss much without that slot anymore since I have the door pockets.

I usually place my change, sunglasses or cell in there. Be careful of things falling and hiting the ashtray cover though as it doesen't take much to dent it. Looks absolutely horrible under certain lighting conditions as well.

My wallet, cell phone, and work ID badge all fit nicely. Don't forget to take the ash tray out and you can put your travel packs of Kleenex in there and still close the door.
