My Intro and 06' c230 Sport Build Thred
Hi Guys,
I hope this is the right place to start this thread.
My name's James, new to the Mercedes aftermarket world. My last car was an Honda s2000, which I have rebuilt down to bare frame.
I live in Boca Raton FL now, moved down this year from Long Island NY: Got fed up of the snow. I'm 26, studying Engineering and Finance at Farmingdale University (online) and transferring to FAU... K enough about me
I bought an '06 C230 Sport v6 in black/black back in 2011 and the mod itch is starting to creep back.
So far I've only done K&N Drop in Filters, and NGK Double Platinum Spark Plugs, Amsoil Fluids, and ATE Superblue Brake Fluid (not really mods I know
).
First things first, I need to try and get Mercedes to good will my Camshaft CEL issues. Had it diagnosed at a local dealership in NY, but now have to try and get the actual work done... Any advice in this area would be greatly helpful.
THE PLANS! (Edited after reading just how slow our cars are and how much they don't respond to the normal tuning, I/H/E/chip etc. such a shame.)
-Eurocharged Tune
-CF Front Lip & Trunk Spoiler painted to match.
-OBX Headers, 100 cell high flow primary cats, deleted secondary cats, to remus/ eisenmann/ supersprint axle back.
-Enkei 18x9 +35 wheels with 225/40 and 245/35 tires
-Ghostrider Camber Kit
-H&r Swaybars
If I can help out anyone in any way I'd be happy to contribute.

SOO... I'll ask this question in here while I also search.
My car is a little twitchy in the rear while going over dips or bumps at highway speed. My experience in the s2000 to fix this was aftermarket rear toe arms. I know I'll be changing my rear camber kits to the ghostrider kits, but does the C230 have the toe arms also, or is there another known fix for this uneasy twitching at speed over bumps?
I see some people are getting beefier sway bars also. Again in my experience this is helps not only with torsional rigidity but also over steer/ under steer characteristics. Would this possibly help over the stock sways for this twitchiness
My car, by no means is going to be driven in a highly spirited manner consistently, but I do like it to handle like its on rails. Just want to plan for any additional suspension mods necessary for a good planted feel in most all conditions, with the KW coilovers and camber kits.

Just saw this pic, this is basically the exact stance im going for! so perfect!!
And the wheels are 18's so I might want to go with those since I don't want to sacrifice concerned when I go lower

possible candidates for 18" wheels
-TSW Carthage 18x8 +32, 18x9 +35, 15mm spacer up front, 10mm in rear
(22lb/f, 24lb/r)
-Brabus Monoblock VI reps 18x8.5 , 18x9.5 +35 with 10mm spacer all around
(unknown weights)
I actually REALLY like those 06 sl500 5 spokes on the silver c above, might have to find a set

Funnily enough, I was just reading up on sway bars last night.
Seems like the H&r front with Eibach rear is the common stiff setup.
But I also saw that the h&r's often make noise, and that people are doing all sorts to combat it; Teflon tape, marine grade grease n what not.
In more reading I noticed that Brabus makes an even bigger pair at 29mm I think it was, for something like $600 shipped. Does anyone have experience with those making noises? More research to be done.
In other news i found a set of sl 18" wheels somewhat locally for what I consider to be cheap. Talking with the owner now! Hopefully I'll have those soon and can sell my stock 17's to offset the cost some.

all you need to do with the sway is get polyurethane bushing instead of the rubber bushings. I bought some universal ones from summitracing and they work fine. It'll be hard finding some eibach rear sways since they're discontinued. just have to troll the classifieds.
