Parking brake slipped, here's how i fixed it
I've owned my W203 '01 C200K for about 2 weeks now, really loving my first Benz so far

When i got it from the previous owner, the parking brake wasn't working, so I got a quick chance to fix it yesterday and thought about sharing some pics on how I did it, might help someone else !
Following this post this particular car didn't have rear folding seats, but mine did, so depending on your car, you might need to skip the step of unbolting the rear seat and just pulling the release lever (located at the base of the seat, near the seat belt)

Pull it up, the seat will look like this:

Now you need to remove this carpet, just pull it off at the base of the back where the seat belts are, it's not secured in any way.
Sorry but I totally forgot to take a picture before removing the brake adjust cover, but it should look like this (not my car)

After removing the cover, i found the cable to the right wheel was popped out as you can see

I cleaned it and lubed it first to get that nice smooth feel on the brake pedal, then pushed the cable back in place (you might need to loosen the adjust bolt first to give the cable some slack)
And here's the finished product:

I noticed the right wheel has more tension on the cable, probably that's why it popped off, the previous owner did some really bad jobs on the car
, but engine wise it's perfect, I didn't adjust the parking brakes beyond that since i'll probably be upgrading to an AMG big brake kit anyways, so all those silly adjustments will be taken care of The reinstall procedures are exactly the same so I just ignored them
the whole job is almost a 20 min job and is on the easy level !
Have fun, drive safe
About every 2 -3 years I have to free up the arm and lubricate it and found that the best thing to use is anti-seize rather than grease or oil, as it lasts longer and does not dry out or get sticky
The coupe I just bought has no parking brake -- pedal goes right to the floor with no resistance. This clip looks like a likely suspect. Thanks for the hint
I have a similar problem on my W211 estate, but there is nothing under the back seat. I'm pretty sure the cable has popped off but can't find the part on the car. Can anyone help please? Thanks :-)
